Dwight Twilley Band - Please Say Please (197?)

I was getting my hair cut recently, and there was a power pop comp playing in the background. This very Beatleseque song came on and I had to Shazam it. It was Dwight Twilley and band, and it came from collection of material that was never released between 1974-1980. In 1993 Shelter records finally opened up the vaults.

I think it's release day for The Prize "In The Red", and I'm usually not one to try to hit the release day. I saw that Monorail Music had a special release of this (I missed out on it), but at least I finally listened to this. Holy crap. This is amazing power pop. I don't really associate Australia with great power pop, but The Prize have just released a fantastic power pop album.

In fact, the email that came along with the Monorail announcement mentioned the following bands in hyping The Prize: Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Pretenders, Blondie, Rolling Stones, Faces, Flamin’ Groovies, Tom Petty, Dwight Twilley, Phil Seymour, The Toms, The Nerves and The Motors. As if that list isn't exhaustive enough, I have to mention Gentleman Jesse (when don't I?).

This is released by Anti Fade and Goner Records. This Bandcamp page is for the Anti Fade release - I used it because it has the whole album available to stream. But here is the link to the Goner page if you want to order from the US distributor/store.

DAY 3 of making Tina Kronis and Russell Mael dance to whatever song is in my head. This will continue until the MAD! albums is released, I receive a C&D letter from Sparks HQ, or I get bored.
