general au info!

all barrier effects go into two categories, mutations and damaging. mutations are effects that don’t need any treatment, these can be annoying and hard to get used to but overall harmless! damaging is anything that needs treatment, these can be difficult or impossible to live with without some kind of help. weaker souls are more likely to have damaging effects, the weaker the soul the stronger the damage. while stronger souls normally just have a harmless mutation or two! it’s possible to have a mix of both and pretty common. determination while not a cure slows down any effects significantly, which is why undyne a otherwise average monster is extremely powerful compared to the others and is barely touched by the barriers effects, shes the only known monster to have determination on such a large scale.

flowey had the resets for a realllllly long time, literally years (although only a month or so passed)

frisk only resets 5 times in the cannon dwindle storyline.

only flowey, frisk and chara remember the resets everyone else forgets, although a few other people are aware that they are happening.

both skeletons remember gaster.

magic is used a lot less in dwindletale because of everyone’s weaker states, monsters have had to find different ways around things they used to do with magic. those who can use magic are highly valuable especially those with healing magic. undyne and papyrus are two of the strongest magic users in the underground and happily use this to help where they can.
