Delphinia Greenholm (oc)

Name: Delphinia Greenholm (Phin or Phinney to Cassia ONLY)

Age/DOB: May 8th, 2898 TA (Shire Reckoning) (45 at the time of the BOTFA)

Gender/pronouns: female, she/her

Species: dwobbit, thought to be full hobbit 

Timeline: The Hobbit

Brief Physical Description: Pale, freckled skin, straight red hair, hazel eyes. A round face and a pear shaped body. She has freckles on her cheeks. Delohinia wears round glasses at all time, as she struggles with myopia. She has slightly pointed ears, but larger and rounder than the average hobbit, as well as smaller feet than the average hobbit. Other hints to her dwarven heritage are her height (she's quite a bit taller than the average hobbit) and the fact that she can grow a very slight beard (which she shaves when living in the Shire)

Brief Personality Description: no nonsense and practical, with a secret adventurous/romantic streak. Very intelligent. Unfortunately she's often held back from her true desires by what others may think of her. She's overly conscious of how she is perceived, and struggles greatly with rejection, perceived or real. Fantastic bedside manner, caring and kind and empathetic.

Family: Mother: Begonia Bolger, Mother: Bluebell Greenholm, Half-sister: Brynja, Father: Khar, Children: Bluebell II, Sigyn, Ragnar

Brief Backstory: Conceived under mysterious circumstances, Delphinia is thought to be fully hobbit for the first part of her life. She was born in Rivendell but raised in Hobbiton. Her biological mother, Begonia Bolger, died when Delphinia was only four or five, so she was raised by the Hobbiton Midwife and Healer, Bluebell Greenholm. Bluebell was close friends with Belladonna, so as a result, Delphinia was close friends with Bilbo and Cassia, acting as something of a pseudo older sister to Cassia and a close friend to Bilbo. She and Bilbo had many adventures when they were younger, but both grew out of that tendency, though unlike Bilbo, Delphinia refused to discourage Cassia.

As a tween, Delphinia took up her adoptive mother's trade, and was a quick study, finding that she dearly loved the profession. For the rest of her adolescence and young adulthood, it was assumed by many in Hobbiton that sooner or later Bilbo would ask for her hand, so much so that even Delphinia began to think it might happen, even if she never had any particular romantic interest in him nor he in her. This, in addition to her somewhat odd looks, meant she never got married and stayed an old maid, becoming rather hopeless by the time of Bilbo and Cassia's adventure, and resigning herself to singlehood.

During those 13 months, Bluebell, Delphinia's mother, passed away, revealing what she knew of her adopted daughter's heritage, which wasn't much, besides that she wasn't fully hobbit, and that Lord Elrond of Rivendell would know more, should she be interested in pursuing answers. Answers Delphinia was not planning on seeking, even after Bilbo and Cassia returned... until Dwalin returned to the Shire to fetch the Baggins siblings.

Delphinia was rather taken with the dwarf, and he with her, and so joined the three on their return to Erebor, knowing they would stop by Rivendell so she could ask Lord Elrond if he knew anything.

In Erebor, she found her father and half sister with the information provided by Lord Elrond and afterwards, Delphinia settled in the Mountain, unwilling to leave her dearest friend, Cassia, nor Dwalin. She combined healing knowledge from not only hobbit and dwarven culture, but also what she learned from Elrond (who she had formed a fast friendship with) and became well renowned healer, eventually wedding Dwalin (after many years of pining) and having three children with him.
