okay but adrian helping jeanie study for college tests and helping her with homework
Jeanie: Don't talk to me the way that you're talking to me.
Stephen: I'm talking to you the way that you're talking to me.
Dorian: STOP TALKING I'M DRIVING.
enrico’s three kids tbh
"But my life is here in New York City. And you’re here too. So why would I need to leave?" She smiles sheepishly in his direction, leaning up against the counter opposite him.
"I mean. I don’t wanna be clingy and stay home forever, but everything I’ve got going for me is at home. I’m not business savvy the way you and Dorian are. I’m still working on my degree, and that can only go so fast…"
Jeanie taps her fingers against the countertop in anxiousness. She never liked having the what-are-you-doing-with-your-life talks. Not as a human kid, and certainly not as an adult vampire.
"Charlie talks about me moving out to Scotland with him, but I have no idea what I can do out there, while he spends his time with his council…"
"Scotland is so far away, though!" Enrico replied, almost wanting to retract his previous statement about Jeanie leaving his nest, even if it was good for her to explore. "Perhaps... when you finish your degree--- and you will--- you could accompany Dorian on his travels. You could see the world and decide where you want to settle."
He ran a hand through his hair.
"Of course you'll always have a home in New York City with your siblings and I--- but you shouldn't stay in one place for so long. Humans live and die in the same corner of the world they were born in. As nearly immortal beings, untouched by time, we have the gift of centuries, and you must do something with the life I've given you."
Enrico cracked a smile.
"This is suicide, padre! Going after a slayer and… And that pravus kid… Dorian wouldn’t want this!"
She paces back and forth about her flat, one hand holding her phone to her ear, the other twisted into her hair as she tried to deal with the stress of the situation. In her mind she’s running through anything that might shock him enough out of his bloodthirsty state to bring him home. So far none of it’s worked.
"This is justice!" Enrico suddenly snapped, earning the gazes of a few humans, which he quickly telepathically commanded to go back to their business. "I want their blood on my hands... I want them to suffer for what they did to Dorian..."
He adjusted the phone between his shoulder and cheek, his hands shaking with anticipation and lunacy and barely able to hold the cell phone on their own. Though, his tone dropped, almost apologetic for his sudden outburst.
"...I'll be home tomorrow. You have the spare keys to my apartment and I'm counting on you and Stephen to watch over V Bar until I get back."
"More like just Dorian." She purses her lips, fighting tears. "Otherwise you’d stay instead of running off after a slayer! We loved him too. But we need you here!"
Ah, so that's what this was about.
Enrico didn't possess the patience nor the sanity to sit here and remind Jeanie that he loved all of his children. He was itching to get on a flight to Stokerton, and then to Bathory, to exact his revenge on that Slayer and Vladimir for inevitably causing his beloved Dorian's demise. Even his hands were shaking with anticipation and various other emotions mixing in with his grief-frayed nerves.
"Mia figlia, you and Stephen will be fine here."
Jeanie takes a deep breath… And just kinda deflates, laying her arms on the counter and resting her head on them. “Just one night I’d like to be able to help run this place smoothly without having to go back to you every five minutes…”
"You'll get the hang of it eventually... Don't beat yourself up for it." Enrico rested his elbows on the counter, emerald eyes drifting around to watch the busy cafe. Only during evenings did the place become a social spot for vampires, and with the sudden shift of activity, he couldn't blame his daughter if she was overwhelmed.
