Awkward Pairing||Theo&Daphne

Theo groaned as he tried to keep himself awake at Sprout’s class. Herbology had never been his thing and now that it was the first class of the day, he felt even worse about it. He hated mornings, specially when he was having a terrible hangover for last night’s drinks. Theo rubbed his eyes as he tried to focus on the instructions of the woman in front of him.

“Alright then. I need you to pair up for this next assignment.” She said as she started to hand in pieces of parchment with the questions and instructions for the activity. “I need you to come to me and take a piece of paper from this bowl” she said as she held a big crystal bowl on her hands. “And the name on it would be your partner for the activity....chop, chop, young people! I don’t have all day.”

Theo lazily got up and walked towards the woman, how could she be so happy all the time? The boy picked up a piece and unfolded the paper. 

Daphne Greengrass. Of course.

The boy sighed heavily and looked around until he found the eyes he had been trying to avoid all morning. He walked towards her hesitatingly and placed her things next to hers. He showed her the piece of paper and raised an eyebrow. “I swear I did not pick it on purpose” he said as he stared at her with tired eyes. He was definitely not in the mood for another fight and he just hope she knew that.

Dearest Daphne,

If this is some kind of sick joke, I do not appreciate it nor find it amusing. You know, saying you love someone is a big deal and if you’re just writing this letter to drive me mad, congratulations. You’re doing it alright.

For the record, I did loved you, I did. With every inch of my heart, I worshiped you and now you’re mocking this feeling as if it’s nothing.

If this is not a joke, though...I wish we could talk things through. Last time we talked things seemed to be so different between us. We used to talk all the time, we used to laugh and make fun of everyone and we were happy. Sometimes I wish there was something of that left in us. 

I hope for you and your family have a merry christmas.

How did you get this?

Theo flinched at the sudden cold finger brushing his face. It had been a while since Daphne had been so close, let alone brush his face. He was surprised by the gesture but he didn’t pull back. “I...” he began but couldn’t find the words to explain himself. They were in good terms now, mostly because of Millicent’s sake but he still was cautious of his words. He knew which scar she had reached for. It was a thin white line across the corner of his eye. It had been from a broken glass that brushed him while someone casted a bombarda spell on the war. “The war.” he said simply, not wanting to get into details of a topic that would definately drift them apart.

Future headcanon

After Hogwarts Emma first applies for an internship at the Daily Prophet. She is set on writing her own book in the future, but before she gets there, she still had to go a long way. She got the internship at the paper and even though it was mainly getting coffee and tagging along during some tasks.

She worked herself up and while Emma loved writing as a journalist, around her 25th she started on her book. It would take around two years, being the perfectionist that she was. It became a young adult book in the Muggle World, not being able to leave her this world behind.

Not a lot of people know but Theo learned to play the piano at a very young age. Even though people always encouraged him to compose his own melodies -he was good at it-  He told himself he didn’t have a real muse to compose something to...until he met her. Daphne was one of the few people that new about Theo hidden talent because she caught him playing at the music room one time. He even composed something for her for their first anniversary. The melody sounded a bit like THIS He believed it was one of the best pieces but every time he tries to play it, he stops in the middle of it because it doesn’t feel right to play it if she isn’t there.
