"W-….well when you put it that way, yeah, but-" He gave a sigh. "I know we ain’t exactly alike, but when I first got outta Praxis’s fortress - when Daxter busted me out - I tried that. I didn’t wanna sleep; was afraid I’d wake up and Dax’d be gone, or they’d catch me again and it’d just be the whole damned cycle all over again…So I stayed awake. It was going on two weeks when I finally crashed, halfway into the hideout the Underground used. The look on Dax’s face when I finally came to…lack of sleep messes you up, bad. Doesn’t matter what you do to keep awake - weird powers, coffee, any of it…still ain’t good. Even if your body isn’t tired, your mind needs a bit of rest, just occasionally.”
He frowned softly, listening to the other’s concern. “What’s watching you for a few more minutes to make sure you can see straight?”
He didn’t comment on the last bit - he wasn’t sure if she meant the same, but he knew how he felt when his mind attacked him in his sleep, sending him every terrible memory of that prison. The nights Daxter woke him up were a lot more numerous than he’d like, but at least the ottsel had assured him he didn’t say anything….
Jak was really trying here. Talk about unexpected. As well as a bit of information she wasn't aware of. Being a Creeper, she knew certain things from stalking, information fathering and studies, as well as the vampiric natural psychic tendencies. But usually that was just base facts. Not such deeper details... Which, also meant she knew full well what could still be in store, the poor bastard.
A heavy sigh followed, Darck's arms crossing over her chest. An almost bitter and exhausted smile on her face. Yeah, amused, but also a bit taken aback. "I'm flattered, I really am. And I have no doubt you'd stick to what you say, you are a man of your word. That much I know. And it's true, while the body can keep plowing on, it's a mental state that really matters, no matter what. But no amount of cover or watching could help a fractured mind. You know that as well as anyone. But you are also, well, more alive than me. Best not to question that right now."
One hand lifted, dragging it down her face a bit. All this talk about sleep and the worry, was really starting to make rest sound good right about now. "Damn it, now I'm getting tempted."
