DYICAD 2017, Day 59: "A party without cake is just a meeting." I've been wanting to use this saying since day one, but nothing was coming together. Well, yesterday I spotted a pack of cupcake stickers at The Dollar Store and heard that operatic voice in my head, so perfect!
ICAD 2017, Day 50: "Adventure" My lifelong friend @darby520 gifted me a set of La-La Land stamps and dies that are all about England! I couldn't wait to use this one. I cut the die out of watercolor paper and subtly colored it with Neocolor II water soluable art wax crayons. It was glued to a Gelli print index card and outlined with a 01 black Micron. The partial Julie Nutting doll, Rita, was left over from Day 30. My daughters treated me to a trip to England a few years ago, and it's one of my favorite memories. One day we just might get to go back.
ICAD 2017, Day 32: "Cultivate kindness." I was going to cut the legs off to fit the card, but I love how it looks as a whole. I did all sorts of things for the background, gelli plate, decoupaged tissue paper and scrapbook paper, inks, and paint. The words and flowers are stickers. The Julie Nutting doll is Taylor, which I stamped on a vintage book page and watercolored. I'm particularly proud of the face I drew, it turned out the best yet.
ICAD 2017, Day 48: "Wishing you all you're wishing for." This Julie Nutting doll is from the "Warm Wishes" cling stamp set, and one of the smaller dolls I'm so partial to. I stamped her on an old Thesaurus page about artists, colored her with Copics, fussy-cut her and glued her to the background. The background was cut from a travel magazine. I love that it's an image of the late 1920s. The words are from a Tim Holtz word pad, and they are meant most sincerely.
DYICAD 2017, Day 58: “Make pretty stuff.”
This is another early Julie Nutting stamp with no name, one of my most favorite.
I stamped her on watercolor paper, painted her skin, hair and shoes, and drew her face.
Her outfit is paper pieced highlighted with a grey Copic, Star Dust Stickles and rhinestones along her hip line.
The background is a piece of pretty scrapbook paper.
ICAD 2017, Day 43: “Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity.”
This kitty is from the Julie Nutting Halloween set “Catgirl.” The cat was stamped on a Gelli print. The bow, which I set at its neck like fluttering butterfly wings, is from the JN “Boutique” stamp set. I can’t remember who makes the Doxie stamp.
The background was made by cleaning up acrylics from another project. The grass is a strip of nifty Washi tape.
DYICAD 2017, Day 54: "Hello, darling" This Julie Nutting stamp is Jeanne. Stamped on watercolor paper, I painted her skin and hair, and drew her features with a 01 Micron pen. Her outfit is paperpieced, her shoes colored in with a Gelly Roll pen. I colored sections of her outfit to help define it. The telephone background paper is glued to an index card and is from the same paper pad the doll's outfit came from.
ICAD 2017, Day 22: "Sing" This background is panted with a gelli plate, and the Julie Nutting stamp "Priscilla" was stamped on a drop sheet with ink from other projects. Paint splatters and Stickles finished it up. It's messy, but when one uses a paint brush to sing, it tends to get that way rather quickly.
