I am heartbroken to have lost a friend today. Dylan was 10 years old, and had been fighting cancer for 6 years. His dad kept a blog of their journey. You can read about it at http://dylan.ericdavid.info/.
I don't have any wisdom to offer about this. It sucks. He should be here, and his family should not have such a huge hole in their hearts. He was a fighter and lived much longer than anyone could have expected, but he should have lived forever. He was Super Dylan.
We played UNO last week and I took some pictures. For the record, he won, and then made his mom and I play for second and third place. He did not want to eat his muffin. He drew a picture and gave it to me with a big hug. I'm a lucky girl to have been his friend.
You can't take a sneaky picture of that kid.

My 2nd place hand.

Jana, making the dog do tricks

The dog doing his best trick, eating.
-
Probably texting some girl.
-
I've known Dylan for most of his life, and the pictures I didn't take are the most precious to me.
-
His brother kissing him good bye before leaving the house
-
"I drew you a picture."
-
Doing tricks in the pool
-
The most precious picture I never took is from the first time I met Dylan.
-
Dylan David, 2 or 3 years old, shirtless, his brown belly sticking out, making his shorts hang low. His curly hair sticking out in every direction like a lion's mane. Roaring, and running back and forth outside Souplantation.
-
We will all miss you, kiddo. Roar.
