As the day grew later, more of the family found themselves lounging under the umbrella. Tuki took the chance to separate himself, finding a quiet corner to stare out at the water.

Today had been a good day. They would have to pull it out of him before he admitted it, but he missed his siblings. He knew they were always a call away and he appreciated it, even if he didn’t always show it. 

When everyone had been running around, laughing and playing, it had been easy to get lost in the fun. Now though, if he was going to be honest with himself (which after his talk with his parents, he’d decided he was going to try and do), something was missing. In specific, two people who should have been here but were not. It would be a lie to say he’d never had that feeling before, but now it felt even stronger.

Eventually, Aleki walked over and joined his brother. Not bothering to look up at him, Tuki said, “He’s dating Dick.” It never crossed Tuki’s mind to expand. He knew his brother would know. It seems like he was a terrible at hiding his true feeling about the blonde. 

The older man sat down and picked up a shell, running his fingers over it. “Maybe he’s changed.” 

Tuki shook his head, but remained quiet. He could go to great lengths on how his gut instinct told him that wasn’t true. How he had heard the venom dripping from the single name that he man had called him. But there was no need, because he had heard the doubt in his brother’s tone.

After another moment of silence, Tuki whispered, "I hurt him, Aleki.”

“You were kids.”

“I was nineteen.”

Aleki rolled his eyes. “Fine. You were young. You’ve grown since then. Hopefully learned from your mistakes. Sit down and talk. Tell him whatever it is that you’re keeping from him.”

The younger man started shaking his head before his brother has stopped talking. “I can’t do that.”

“Do you want to try and fix things? You start by opening up and telling the truth.”

Tuki sighed. “I can’t.” He quickly ran his hands through his hair before muttering, “FUCK!”

A dry laugh fell from his lips. “The one thing that could fix everything could also make things even worse. Fucking sounds about right.”
