miss these guys
For Dylan being the fan favorite character, people sure do misinterpret his character a lot... I swear people just like him for being some "dumb comic relief twink" or whatever, completely ignoring the fact that he uses humor to mask being uncomfortable and insecure, and actually has a pretty tragic storyline.
Everyone always complains that Ryan is a selfish asshole or whatever, but I think his kind moments get really overlooked.
He's known Laura for, like, a couple of hours, but decides to give her the werewolf blood for protection against Silas, saying she deserves to get through this more than him. Like hello??? Are we just gonna ignore that? He could've been completely selfish and not even mentioned it to Laura, but not only did he mention it, he gave it to her.
I think another good example is when you choose not to cut off Dylan's hand. Okay, sure, maybe he just didn't want the blood on his hands, but I think it was because he and Dylan literally just became friends and he was like, no way I'm cutting off my new best friend's hand like this.
Ryan can absolutely be selfish and rude, but people act like he is 100% of the time, but he's really just not.
I've seen a lot of let's-players dislike Dylan at first, but then start to like him once we get the walk to the radio shack scene, where he explains he just masks his nerves and insecurities with humor. Relatable. Whenever he breaks characters, so to speak, he seems like a pretty sweet guy.
Yet, when Emma reveals basically the same thing, I just see people get mad at her or call her a crappy friend or mostly just ignore it. Emma also reveals to Abi that she's not actually so positive and outgoing; it's just what people want from her, so she does it. And also that she loves making people laugh.
I liked Emma as a character, but I thought she was a total bitch as a person prior to that scene. But when that scene rolled around, it made me think she wasn't such a bitch of a person, just kind of lost and confused like Dylan is. I mean, they're all dumb teenagers. You can't really blame them for not really knowing who they are just yet.
I just feel like there's some bias there. Dylan is the fan favorite, and I feel like Emma is often the least favorite, despite them turning out to be pretty similar. They both do crappy things, but they both do redeemable things, too, and they both share a similar reason for their behavior, yet one is loved and one is hated.
I repeat, being an Emma Mountebank fan sucks...
Dylan Lenivy is the kinda kid who’s family recorded him singing single ladies by Beyoncé on the radio
