Notes: oh God, the last time I wrote an IE fanfic was like, in 2014. But now I'm going to change that because my person came to stay in the fandom!!! Initially, I was thinking in writing a Genda/Sakuma because I was sobbing watching some AMVs of them but then I remembered that gay marriage in Japan isn't allowed yet (I mean there some zones that do allow but oh well), so I remember of my babies 💕 They don’t have that much of writing content tho. :’( This fanfic was vaguely based on this btw! I hope you enjoy! Alas, I’m accepting requests for IE shortfics~
"We should get married."
Mark let the pen slip out of his hand and looked at Dylan who, instead of studying for the exam they would have next week, was on the phone. His expression, however, was serious. He must have been reading something that made him suggest the wedding.
“What?"
"Well, we've been dating for three years now, and-"
"We're college students, Dylan."
"Exactly because we were university students we should get married!" Dylan showed what he was searching on his cell phone; the FAFSA regulation. For those who were married, can receive a scholarship.
Mark's eyes widened and he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. A scholarship. He wanted to get married for a monetary schoolship. He felt a little betrayed.
"We already have a scholarship because of soccer," after a lot of thinking, he managed to phrase. "And we live in the dorms, so we don't need any more money..."
"Yes, but ~" Dylan smiled and walked over to Mark's desk, placing a hand on his chair. "We could live together in an apartment without worrying about others seeing us!"
Mark turned his body to Dylan and smiled. Finding that it wasn't just for the money, Mark felt better and even euphoric with the idea.
"That's actually a nice idea."
"Oh! Does that mean you're aboard?"
"No," he replied at once, which made Dylan pout by the rejection. "We have to plan this better."
"Oh my God!" Dylan hugged him, resting his knee on the chair, and kissed Mark's forehead. "I had an idea, we could get married in Las Vegas!"
"In Vegas?! No way, let's have some class!"
With such an answer, Dylan laughed loudly and filled Mark's face with kisses, who only smirked.
"But you know we've got an exam to study before, right?"
Dylan let out a "ugh" and dropped Mark, going back to bed and picking up his notebook. He read a few sentences until he gave up; took out his goggles and massaged his nose. That subject was complicated and certainly annoying. He would rather be playing football or flirting with Mark instead of studying.
"I don't want to study!"
"Oh, but is my future husband a quitter?"
That caught Dylan off guard – he wasn't a quitter and wouldn't be now turning into one. He had to become a competent husband after all!
Seeing that Dylan was concentrating, Mark smiled triumphantly and turned to his desk. He looked at his hand, with particular attention to the ring finger. He blushed as he imagined an alliance there and couldn't get a smile out of his face, those that indicated he was in love.
He thought, still, what the future apartment would be like – no, a small, comfortable house would be the ideal. Maybe they would adopt a pet, who knows. They would have a small garden with flowers, which they would have to learn to treat. With that in mind, Mark scribbled down a paper to buy a plant to learn.
"Maaaark, don't ignore me!"
Mark jumped in his chair in surprise. Beside him was Dylan with his notebook. Certainly he wanted to ask a question on the subject.
"Y-yes?"
"A plant?” He asked, reading what Mark just wrote. “Already thinking about the house?~ "
Mark's cheeks flushed, indicating that he was, indeed, thinking already about the house. Dylan put down the notebook and hugged his boyfriend, his soon-to-be husband.
Getting married was a good idea.
