Ancient Dadaepo Guesthouse As mentioned on the information board, this structure was used as a guesthouse for local government officials during the Joseon Dynasty era. The exact date of construction is not known, but it was rebuild in 1825 (the 25th year of King Sunjo’s reign). Only the guesthouse's pillars and roof remained until the structure's restoration in 1970. Busan Metropolitan City designated the structure as Busan Tangible Cultural Property No. 3 in 1972. Tale of the trees . . . Every tree has its own stories, especially those ancient trees. It is believed that the old trees possess enormous positive energy or spirit which protect us from the bad or evil spirits. In Korea, some of the ancient trees are designated as natural monuments due to their historic value, while other 100 or more year olds are designated as legally protected trees. In our Saha-gu district, there are such 9 ancient trees which are designated legally protected trees. The oldest one is 650 years old and also designated as natural monument. The tree is well protected with beautiful park around. In Busan, there are 226 such legally protected ancient trees. The oldest one is more than 1,300 years old. Touring those old protected tress holding stories can be very interesting. Much waited ‘Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams’ Music Show 2020 season has finally returned from this July 1st (at 8PM every days, 2 performances on weekdays/holidays, Mondays OFF, No water fountain play experience to prevent Covid-19). It is the world's largest fountain and was listed in the Guinness World Records on March 27, 2010. The info about ‘Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams’ from their website: Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams, the first of its kind set up in Busan, displays a choreographed show of water dancing along with the background music. It was first opened on March 27, 2010 and has since been operating from April to October every year.
