arnold was born a petulant child and he never changed. maturity only made him sneakier with his bad temper, snobbishness and selfishness. he learnt to play people so that he never needed to throw a temper tantrum: he got what he wanted from others with fair speech and colorful imagery. he still gets upset on a daily basis when things don't go precisely the way he wants them to. he, fortunately, knows how to keep his lips sealed. the whishams have had a beautiful townhouse in central london for good three hundred years and a country house on a fifty-acre plot in somerset. in other words: the whishams are the crème de la crème of london. their family has seen its fair share of politicians, business men, lawyers, doctors, and freeloaders. arnold has always had ambition. he has always wanted to be a bit better than everyone around him. he always knew he was either going to become a politician or a business man. he chose business the second it became clear to him that he couldn't give a shit about the problems of regular citizens nor the intricacies of law and legislation. at least in business, you didn't work in the public eye. studying economics and business administration at the london business school was less about studying and more about establishing connections. arnold had a way of ranking people based on their usefulness to him. sometimes the right surname earned you a good number of points and sometimes just being funny and entertaining earned you the same amount. after graduation, arnold worked for his uncle's firm: a medium-sized publishing company. the work didn't entertain arnold in the slightest. the publishing sector was uneventful and arnold wasn't an avid reader. he couldn't distinguish good poetry from bad poetry — both seemed pretentious to him. he had a hard time believing the editors and the publishers whose opinion he had to trust when they were making big decisions. he left the company the second something better came along. the better that came along was an entertainment company. he actually stayed with the company for half a decade, climbing the corporate ladder. it took him two more companies before he started working at the bulletin corporation. first at the broadcasting company and a few years later at the bulletin sports. he liked the bulletin sports as a company. it was well structured and he could see great opportunities. within four years he was made the cfo of the bulletin sports. the title was one he wore proudly. it gave him power and influence. he could make big decisions, his word would be heard, he was a person people came to ask for permissions. he enjoyed his work greatly. this was back in 2020. the bulletin sports also introduced him to his future wife, an added bonus ! he genuinely thought he was going to stay with the company and aim for the ceo spot. he knew if he just gave it a bit of time and rubbed the right elbows, the position would fall into his lap. but... he got impatient and greedy. when the top dogs of comoedia and sportscast began courting him and the ceo position at sportscast was dangled in front of him, absolutely nothing stopped him from accepting the offer. it wasn't a cheap decision to him though. not only did it paint him as a villain at the bulletin corporation, it cause marital problems, and he received a boss from hell ( bernard ). but hey ! at least arnold made a lot of money and gets to call himself the boss ! he's been the ceo for two years now !

her family has a very dysfunctional background. her father was originally married to someone else back in thailand. he would take business trips to london and would meet samira. samira gets pregnant and has suvi. her father lives a double life going back and forth from bangkok to london. eventually the lies catch up to him, but because he had been gone for most of the year to stay in london, his wife in bangkok had also cheated on him several times, having children with another man without his knowledge. she had managed to keep the pregnancies a secret since they were hardly ever intimate after birthing their first child. naturally, this all led to a divorce which surprisingly ended off rather amicably. he moves to london permanently with suvi's older half-sibling and moves in with samira and suvi. during this time of her life, suvi wasn't aware of what her father was doing or what he did. she didn't learn until secondary school. she thought it was so fascinating and dramatic. she used it as inspiration for a creative writing assignment in her english class. she didn't bother to conceal the identities of her parents or her father's first wife, she felt like it would lose its authenticity if she had used aliases. her teacher was concerned and told her parents what she had wrote. for the 100th time in her life, she was grounded. and with all the trouble she got into, she was scared of her parents to an extent. if she didn't get into a degree they approved of, they would cut her off ( they've threatened her many times ). and the only thing she feared was losing access to money. she applied to the imperial college of london and was accepted into their software engineering degree. during her time in university, she sold fake designer goods to make extra cash. the allowance her parents provided her only covered her essentials and she needed money for music festivals and travel! she stopped her side hustle once she met the youngest son of the bulletin corporation's ceo. she has a rich boyfriend now! there's no point in working.

when she applied for the internship at comoedia corp, she intentionally publicized her photograpp-h account to reveal all the photos of her and minkyu. if comoedia is as petty as they appear in the media, surely they'd want to hire the girlfriend of someone who's in the family of their biggest competitor! of course, there's a chance it would backfire on her and they'd think she's there to spy, but it worked to her advantage. she was asked for an interview and the interview process was a bit painful, but she was hired in the end. it turns out, they hadn't looked at her profile and hired her purely based on her schooling. ( broke up with minkyu around this time, it wasn't serious. ) after her internship, she was offered a more formal position. she accepts and works there for a year. she hated it. it was so boring and dress codes suck and why was the ac always on so high! once an executive from app-h had approached her about a position, she immediately accepted. the working environment there suited her best and her ideas were actually being heard. she works there for a few years under the visual x team as well as helping with improving photograpp-h. she began multitasking — working at app-h during the day, working on a stock app with two friends from college at night. as much as working for app-h had been the best experience so far, but she found herself bored. she needed a change in scenery. the feeling of handing in her resignation this time was a lot different to when she had done so back when she was working for comoedia. she was sacrificing stability by risking a chance on an app that could potentially fail. somewhere between all this, her and minkyu get back together and he lessens her fears and burdens when he ( and others due to his connections ) invests into the company now known as better wealth. ( her and minkyu break up again, this time it was serious. )

later his interest grew to fascination. how were these games created? what goes into making a gaming console? how long does it take to create something like this?

once finding out what it required to become a game developer, he started taking school more seriously. it was a great surprise to his parents to find him excelling in his studies even though it was due to his obsession with video games. they couldn't tell him to reduce his playing time solely due to the fact he was getting amazing grades.

after university, his career was flourishing, working under companies like ubisoft, and EA who have all created his favourite games. — but just as thing were getting good, in 2014 he gets his situationship pregnant and he had just blown most of his money on contributing to the ethereum crowdfund and bitcoin, which had horrible returns for the rest of the year. he kept his situation hidden from his family. they didn't need to know.

two years later when feyza had approached him to invest into app-h inc., he was reluctant. now that he's responsible for a child, he's convinced he needed to take less risks. it wasn't responsible living a lifestyle of big rewards or big losses. although photograpp-h is doing amazing, it didn't guarantee app-h inc., would do well.

he came clean about the child and how he would have immediately agreed if it wasn't for the child. he didn't express his other concerns since it didn't seem relevant and he didn't want to pessimistic considering he wasn't in the position to lecture or give advice to his sister who was doing better than him.

with bitcoin crashing even more significantly in 2018, he was desperate for fast cash. he was doing well for himself, but not enough to maintain the lifestyle he created for himself and the lifestyle he's grown accustomed to. he reached out to his sister and asked if the offer was still on the table. feyza suggested he buy shares now that they were more established and she would trust him in that position rather than some fancy investor in a suffocating suit.

without much of a thought, he agreed. if this went to shit, he would put everything into a high interest savings account and never invest anything until he earned the amount he desires.

in the next two years everything moved so fast. app-h inc., was turning over a high profit, catching up to comoedia and the bulletin — and bitcoin reached an all time high ending the year at around 20k per bitcoin. with the amount of money he had, he didn't need to work anymore.

he left america and moved to london to be closer with his siblings. his involvement with app-h inc. increased. his position is merely an advisory role and helps with day to day production while coming and going as he pleases.

her way or the high way. that is all there is to nafisa. she doesn't work too much but when she does, it happens because of a bout of inspiration. during these phases, nothing is stopping her: she gets impatient, she wants results immediately, she doesn't have the patience to wait for email responses, she finds the work ethic of everyone else lacking. it's the sort of behaviour that causes a horrid environment. it's the main reason she has decided to just stick to being on the board of visual x. she has opinions and she wants the best for the company but she is not a team player.

nafisa was a sharp kid, and her first ten years of schooling were a piece of cake. her study method relied heavily upon stress factors — last minute cramming and lots of all-nighters. the problem with having a good memory is that it allows you to grow into a backboneless adult. university was hell. last minute studying was not the answer. quick and easy fixes did not exist for every challenge. nafisa barely survived her five years at the university of edinburgh. she graduated with a fairly useless degree in digital arts. a degree that her upper-middle class parents paid for. a degree that led her to her future business partner.

a year before her graduation nafisa put all of her efforts into networking. networking for her meant going to the coolest events she could just get into, drinking champagne she could not afford, and talking to anyone who would listen to her youthful and naive thoughts. one warm august evening, she sat at the right table at the right time.

her future business partner was going over the work opportunity that had presented itself just some weeks ago. the issue ? there was no team to handle the work load. the word 'work' sounded awfully good to a poor, parent-dependent ( technically art ) student. nafisa jumped at the opportunity. convinced the other that she was what was missing and she was willing to put in hours.

the ad campaign they worked on was their first project together. it was what convinced them that they could keep going as a duo. as nafisa was finishing her studies, her business partner kept looking for new projects. after their fourth project together, a large project they couldn't handle together forced them to expand. they created visual x and hired a handful of people to work for them.

money breeds greed. the company kept growing in surges: the company would accept a project that was too big for their capacity at the time, they'd hire new people to complete the project, they'd realize the temps needed to become a permanent part of their employee list, and not much later the same pattern would be repeated. but growth cannot happen infinitely.

in 2023, after six fruitful years of growth and wealth, visual x had a dry season. no projects came up, their expertise was not needed, and the money stopped pouring in. they had their first massive lay-offs. nafisa had never experienced such great a failure and she felt absolutely gutted. she felt bad for the employees but mainly she felt like her luck had ran out and she was going to lose everything they had worked for. it took her two months to become properly functional again. during those two months app-h had begun to circle visual x like a vulture.

some would consider app-h the saviour. nafisa will begrudgingly admit that without app-h inc. there would not be the visual x that exists at the moment, but nafisa dislikes being dependent on app-h. under app-h, visual x never runs out of projects. dulaan is their main source of revenue.

nafisa feels like she and her co-founder are no longer in control despite the co-founder acting as the ceo and nafisa on the board of the company. they still have to answer to the big bosses of app-h inc.

Early life:

Amelia's world was always defined by rules. Strict hours to wake up, ways she was expected to behave, and things she was meant to achieve. Her family's name and connections meant she had a way in, but it also meant she had a lot to live up to.

Fortunately, the weight of the expectations was always something she enjoyed carrying. It's not some much that she is happy to be worked to the bone - but that she cannot pass up the opportunity of winning over someone else.

As a child her knowledge of rules and how to use them to her advanced was used to win sports games or get ahead in clubs and performance awards. She not the smartest person in class but she understands what people want from her with a scarily good accuracy. It's formulaic, really. A good essay is not built on a good theme so much as in writing exactly what her teachers want to read. A abysmal number of volunteering hours, sports and leadership positions shines more in her resume.

Her asinine adherence to both the general and her own set of rules often borders on manic. Certainly something that would have been diagnosed had she had more attentive parents or had it shown negatively on her achievements. But with the type of success she was getting in academics, extracurricular activities and interpersonal relationships? You certainly can't have your perfect daughter walking around with a label like mentally ill.

This competitive personality and undiagnosed issues, coupled with the possibly inherited addictive personality, all came crashing down on her in the summer of 2002. A broken leg acquired during the horse jumping competition season and the end of her GCSEs left her with a mind numblingly boring summer. The opioids prescribed to her leg, however, helped pass time much faster.

It's her then boyfriend, and especially his father's prescription pad, that continues her supply once the legal dose is up. She was never much of a drinker or smoker, using both simply as an in into conversations and groups she wanted easier access to. But those little round pills become the one thing that shuts her brain down. Thankfully, neither her parents nor her older brother Arnold ever found out about it. They wouldn't understand.

Career:

Picking law for her postsecondary education is almost too easy of a choice. She does both her LLB and LLM in King's College, choosing to stay in London over the prospect of Oxbridge education. She wanted her degree good and quick, and she already had her eye on the International firms, which all had branches in London.

She gets a Trainee position at Alstern Solicitors after her LLB due to a favor from one of her father's business partners. But the offer for an associate position at Clifford Chance a month before getting her LLM is all her own. From there, she rises in the ranks. She makes partner at 34 and has since become quite settled into her role. She now mostly deals with antitrust and M&A corporate law.

Stock in TELEGRAPP-H:

She buys into Telegrapp-H when it's still Chitchatter. She'd been an associate for a few years at that point, but having a varied stock portfolio was just something you did when you had Whisham money. Most of her stock until that point had been quite passive, she enjoyed investing in tech companies but had yet to buy into something new and fresh.

She hears about Chitchatter at work. It's new, but it's gaining users fast. She's just one of the associates placed on Park Haneul's case. It's while drafting all the trademarks and contracts that she really understands the scope of the situation. It truly has everything to be the next big thing in tech. She's interested. She invests in it more than most British citizens will see in a year. The next year, she buys even more stocks.

When they're acquired by app-H she's delighted. Her stocks value goes up 10 fold overnight. It's the whispers of app-H's Frankenstein monster of intellectual property in their vault that first make her wary. She has plenty of other investments, she wouldn't be destroyed were Telegrapp-H to fail. But, oh, would her ego take a hit.

Verity Vergès:

Meeting Verity Vergès at a bar in Canary Wharf after work was a surprise but Amelia is immediately interested. Verity has a fire in her eyes she can't quite explain. And sure, she's a little rough around the edges. A lot is clearly wrong, but when has Amelia ever given up because something was challenging?

How fast everything happens after that night surprises even Amelia. They're dating by the end of the week. Living together before the end of the year. And married two years later. It's not Amelia's style to move this fast but she is incredibly obsessed with Verity and the life they built together.

When Verity talks about children a few months into the marriage, Amelia agrees without much thought. She never wanted children but she's not against them. Amelia was a perfectly agreeable child, there's no reason to think any kid with a good upbringing will be very difficult.

Verity carries both pregnancies, mostly because the prospect of a long maternity leave make Amelia break out into hives. Plus the thought of giving birth makes her squeamish. Verity wants to be a mother, surly pregnancy is involved in that.

If one were to judge his life through the lens of business achievements one would come to the conclusion he is as close to failure as someone who has never really tried can be. Jobless all his life, maintaining hobbies over achievements on his shelves. Bradford has about as much business sense as an overly exited child left alone in a toy store. The only son of Cecil Thornbury, 6th Baron Feversham he was necessarily the heir of both his father's title and his lands in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. He always cared very little for it much to all his 6 older sisters dismay.

In school he cared for little else than rowing. Eton College Boat Club was legendary in and of itself and Bradford dedicated all he had to it. Winning the men's 18+ on his last year at Eton was just what he needed to continue. At 21 he wins silver at the 1980's Moscow Olympics.

Has a boy he was always quite the flirt. His naturally wide eyed look hidden behind thick frames accentuated his aloft nature making him quite popular with both women and men. He'd enjoy the games of it, never quite seriously considering anyone. Whispered words in dark rooms. Wide smiles and sweaty bodies. Coming of age in the late 70's was a experience Bradford took full advantage off. Things like relationships brought trouble he couldn't quite be bothered with. But Beatrice Alderidge was not the type of women you played games with, however. Even as a girl.

Beatrice Alderidge was always a force of nature and Bradford was taken into her storm in 1981 and has yet to escape it. Or try it. Any ideas his father had for a marriage to a proper family, an aristocratic family, went in one ear and out the other. A nouveau riche girl was enough make poor Cecil shake in his boots. And even if they were rich, did it count if you had to maintain a job? But Bradford was determined, he simply had to convince Beatrice now.

The years since their marriage have mellowed him out. He always disliked the fast paced world of modern work so when children and the taking care of them came into question he was quick to accept his role. He was perfectly happy prancing around the house ordering the nannies around. His hobbies expand and so do the shelves.

Compared to other man of both his social standing and age he was a much more involved father than most. He always insisted on making the children's birthday cakes and taking pictures on their first day. Still he had never quite mastered the art of speaking to his children. Specially about pesky things as emotions. Any moment of weakness from the kids was met with awkward nods and pats on their back. "Chin up lad", "Good going old boy". He's very proud of all of them but he might have never actually told them he loves them.

Other fun facts:

He was gifted a Border Collie named Biscuit by Brooke a few years ago, since Border Collie's get even higher titles than other dog breeds. He feels like he is betraying Brutus however and has yet to enroll Biscuit in a competition. (He will never be Brutus in Bradford's eyes)

He took up flower arranging sometime between b2 and b3 birth and has since made multiple arrangements weekly to give Beatrice.

His garden is extremely well organized. He has: A fruits and veg bio garden. A flower garden. The Poison garden. A french garden (with a maze) and an english cottage garden (with multiple bird baths).

he took up oil painting after b4 started school - his favorite subject to paint are landscapes with hunting dogs and birds.

He also has a collection of various mushrooms he grows around most of the grounds - the boys have been without his knowledge having him grow hallucinogenic mushrooms for years

While the family is very much a business and finance family he is a languages and humanities man. He collects first editions and other rare books specially in English, Latin, French and German.

He is very disappointed that all the boys did Rugby instead of Rowing when they went to Eton but he as also never directly spoke to them about his love of Rowing and his career in it.
