DYNEsty: chapter 2
"Uh... I'm not sure about this." He said to himself. He looked at his wardrobe again. After Bufu had given him her blessing to be her heir, Dustin was unable to refuse. This wasn't a joke. She had held him captive for at least half an hour until he agreed to be her heir. She, in turn, had given him her armor and weapon, modified to fit Dustin's body.
One change had been made, though. In the center of the chest plate, a crystal made of what looked like pure sapphire shone through. This was Bufu, in crystalline form, giving Dustin directions on how to wield her powers correctly.
"Oh, trust me." Bufu spoke into Dustin's mind. "Your boots give you incredible jumping abilities, as well as the inability to break your bones when you fall."
Dustin thought this was too good to be true.
"But, scientifically speaking, I can still die from falling at this height. It's impossible for me to not die." Dustin was getting more and more nervous. Bufu butted in again.
"Right. That's why you stop yourself before you reach that point. No bones will be broken, but you've got to stop before you kill yourself."
Dustin was even more confused at this.
"How do I stop in midair?" Dustin seemed perplexed.
"Just jump, and allow me to do the rest." Bufu cooed. "Do you really think I would allow my heir to kill himself?"
Dustin could stand to argue, but he realized that the only way to get off of the building was to jump.
"Now, equip Niflheim first. I want to give you the full tutorial in one go."
Now Dustin was really scared. Is this what the other heirs had to go through? Dustin walked up to the edge of the building, and jumped.
Bufu was right: the boots did offer incredible jumping abilities. Dustin didn't care about this, though, as he was currently descending into the streets, about to be turned into a pancake at rapid speeds. Then, Dustin saw a flash of blue light underneath him. He had stopped falling. He looked down to see himself standing on a snowflake.
"Impressive, isn't it?" Bufu asked, obviously pleased with herself. "Since you took over control of the physical abilities I possess, and you're still a beginner, I decided to put myself in charge of the magic behind the scenes. You're currently standing on a snow glyph. It doesn't take much magic to sustain it, but it's a little fragile."
Dustin was absolutely amazed. He had never seen any sort of magic in his life, and he was a little disappointed to have a snowflake be his first example.
"This is how you keep yourself from falling too far: creating glyphs to cushion your fall. Your suit is specially designed to land from tall heights, so you shouldn't feel very much pain."
Dustin stood atop the glyph for a minute longer, looking at how much closer the ground was. He looked at the skyscraper he fell from, and could not tell how far he had fallen.
Throughout the night, Bufu had given Dustin even more advice, such as proper lance technique and jumping abilities and how to use glyphs appropriately. After the exercises, Dustin was feeling incredibly tired.
"Oh, come on now. We haven't even hit the surface of my battle knowledge." Bufu complained.
"It's only been one night!" Dustin exclaimed through gasps of breath. "I can't learn everything you have to offer in a single night! I'd die of exhaustion!"
"I suppose you do have a point." Bufu finally gave in. "Fine. I suppose you mortals do need your rest. I shall let you rest. However, we must continue training if we are to fight our growing enemy forces. You are also going to need to meet up with the rest of the heirs if you have a chance. I'm sure you've seen them on the news: stories of children with outlandish weapons fighting 'crime' in the city?"
Dustin had heard such tales. There was a duo of teens in the northern states who had done such a thing. There was also a boy in the middle south, and a girl in the southeast. There was also another girl in the Hawaiian islands who had similar characteristics. These were the other heirs? Was Dustin also to be known for his fame? For his powers? He was too tired to think about this as he went back to his house. His parents were already asleep, so Dustin just went to his room and wished himself sweet dreams.
When he was fast asleep, Bufu took off his armor, replacing it with his pajamas.
"That kid can't say I never did anything for him." She smiled as she left the mortal world to her icy throne.
DYNEsty chapter 1
Wind: fierce, yet gentle. Ice: cold, yet soothing. Fire: searing, yet calm. Electricity: painful, yet instantaneous. Light: blinding, yet radiant. Darkness: lonely, yet inviting.
The six warriors of the Old World had been defeated long ago.
Bufu: the Ice Goddess Garu: the Wind Princess Agi: the Fire God Zio: the Thunder Lord Hama: the Queen of Light Mudo: the King of Darkness
Though legends say that the six warriors never died, many variations tell different stories. Some versions say that the warriors are now old and wise, living atop the highest mountains, waiting for potential students to inherit their skills. Others say that the six warriors were reborn into the youth of the New World, living their days in youthful merriment, not remembering their days of fighting.
Both of these are only half right.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dustin woke abruptly, cold-browed and sweat-ridden. Gasping for air, he tried to recall the dream he had witnessed. This dream was the same one that he had every night: Dustin would be standing in the middle of a large room, painted blue and white. The very air in the room would be cold to the touch, and there would be many paintings and engravings of snowflakes on the walls, with a rather large one located in the center of the floor, right where Dustin always stood. He never knew what the dreams meant.
Dustin looked up at his alarm clock, which read 8:15. <<Holy shit!>> Dustin thought. <<I'm running late for school!>>
Dustin hurriedly got dressed and ran out the door, only saying a quick goodbye to his family. He ran down the road, hoping to everything that the bells wouldn't ring by the time he got to the front door of his school. When he finally arrived, his lungs begging for a break, he realized that he had five minutes to spare.
After a drudging day at school, Dustin attempted to walk back to his house. His headphones didn't warn him.
Next thing he knew, Dustin was standing in the middle of the street, unharmed. His arms, now shrouding his face, were lowered, and Dustin saw the events that took place.
A car had attempted to run into Dustin. That same car had been reduced to a broken pile of metal. Shocked, Dustin hurried away from the crime scene. While he ran, Dustin heard many people shouting their theories about.
"A snowflake protecting the boy!"
"An icicle?"
"That car ran into some blue wall!"
All of the theories were similar, in a way. Each of them involved something shielding Dustin from the car.
That night was a crazy one.
Dustin's dream was not different from his usual dream. He was standing there, in the blue room. However, this time, a woman was sitting in a chair, much like a throne, at the end of the room. That was strange to Dustin. The room looked like an office, yet it apparently was a throne room.
"Ah, it's about time, Dustin Dennicks." The voice beckoned. The voice was very feminine. The figure sitting in the throne seemed very... empowered. The figure looked very much like a woman, with long platinum-blonde hair and... a helmet? As Dustin walked closer, he could see that the woman was wearing full battle armor. The armor was a genuine blue in color, with the back of the body armor having a set of metal wings. Dustin noticed a long pole sitting itself atop the woman's knees, but quickly realized that it was instead a sharp lance.
"Dustin," the woman cooed. "You have been blinded by 'reality' for too long. The rest of the warriors have already chosen their heirs, and I am the last to do so." The woman closed her eyes and held out her lance.
"This is NIflheim, the Ice Lance. I am known by many names from different regions. I am widely known by the name 'Bufu.' Though I like to be known as the Ice Goddess." When Dustin only stood there, Bufu continued her speech.
"I am Bufu, the Ice Goddess. I hereby choose you, Dustin Dennicks, to be my heir: the heir to Niflheim, and the heir to the Dragon Knights."
