33: Which of the seven virtues (chastity, charity, diligence, humility, kindness, patience, justice) does your OC most embody?
Diligence, “careful and persistent work or effort”. I mean, if you think about it he’s running his own company and makes a nice piece of change doing it.
2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?
I’ve always been awful at picking favorites, especially amongst so many choices. orz
I can tell you one of my favorite archetypes is the tall dark and creepy / mysterious obsessive type. Dyranygal and Lord Garen are great examples and little tastes of this idea run in p-pretty much every one of my villains;; sorry;;
Was Dyr a nicer person pre-varkification? Does becoming an emotionalist varke have consequences down the line? Like even when they cycle into were or illusionist, do they still have that bit of emotional instability?
Yup, they keep whatever comes first, since that was their foundation. They'd keep whatever's second too if they got to live that long. The cycling thing is becoming take it or leave it canon-wise anyway, I'm thinking it's a little too OP. But I guess century-old, soul-sucking, super-strong, mentally-manipulating creatures are a little OP in the first place. :P
I think in the original writeup, emotionalists only have the wild (WILD) mood swings while they're adjusting. There's no reason to think they would not be more easily compromised than your average person down the line though, absolutely.Whether it's a trend or bad characterization, I do know that some of my emotionalists (have GOT to come up with a better name for that) come off as almost.. stoic. Maybe that could up the 'what the fuck' levels when they eventually freak out on someone TvT;;;;
Sometimes, Dyr gets lost in his own mind and forgets that he's standing in a public space like an art museum. He can't even count the times some security guard found him after closing time or one of his entourage had to come look for him.
oh jeez ah um uH I TOOK SO LOGN WRITING THIS AND DIDNT EVEN COME UP WITH ANYTHING GOOD
He tends to collect people (friends, lovers, otherwise) like trinkets or trophies, but/andso is probably flaky and will drop them if they become too inconvenient. Conversely, I do know he's prone to showy gestures of affection, even if something more subtle would be more appropriate... not to mention a tendency to use words and gifts rather than actions to express fondness.
13. In what ways might they be overly negative and/or pessimistic?
I TELL YA, KIDS TODAY. oh man, to be honest, I have no clue how to answer this one. I thought for a good long while and I've got nothin'.
14. Is there anything they are too optimistic about?
I'm not sure how to take this question, honestly. Maybe people's willingness to put up with him? I imagine him with Gatsbyish qualities which I'm sure would rub lots of people the wrong way.
20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)
An easy answer would be to just namedrop Niloein. To expound on and past that, I'll cite my first answer and speculate that of the people he attracts, only a few are worth anything more than gold-diggers and sycophants (this is a theme, isn't it?). Those that aren't are the ones he gets really attached to (for more than a few weeks), but due to his nature I think he might eventually drive those people away. A better way to put that would be to say that he wishes to be closer to certain people, but can't achieve this because his idea of being closer is either unconventional or just plain possessive. I hesitate to say he doesn't understand that people have their own intricacies, preferences, etc that might not necessarily match his own... but it sure seems like it.
I'm talking out of my ass and don't know how people work so feel free to share thoughts, point out mistakes, etc. 8D
Dyr forgets to blink. So he's always staring. Just these two black marbles looking down at you with the same bemusement a of a man watching two animals fight for a scrap of food. Cold eyes, like all the warmth had long been drained from them.
Dyranygal stared at the apparition in front of him. It was too solid to be an apparition, dripping plum from the servants it had torn apart on its way there. The specter was slim; dark scaled and dark eyed and slowly walked towards him. He was so familiar, Dyr stood up from his seat, trying to remember his name.
“Keijozegal?” He asked.
The apparition paused, blinking once in disbelief and offense, before lunging at Dyranygal with a roar. Dyranygal found a cold hand clutched around his face, smashing him into a wall and tearing through his scalp before he managed to push the attacker away. He got up to his feet only for something hard to hit his side, flinging his body like a doll across the large room and flopping onto a table which cracked beneath his back, sharp splinters the size of fingers stabbing into his back.
Dyranygal pulled himself back up, his left eye refusing to open as cold sludge ran down his face and back. Everything… felt… not right. He reached up and wiped the sludge off, looking down at his hand. It was covered in near black paste, it took Dyranygal far too long to realize it was his own blood. He wheezed, a cold rope drawing through his ribs and spine.
For the first time in so long, Dyranygal remembered what pain was… and terror.
What was proto-Dyr like? Before he became EVIL ALIEN ADONIS?
Dyr’s actually one of my newer Garrans. He was created after they settled into their current forms. [rummages through notebooks] He’s circa 2008
! Actually, he was a shadowy villain we didn’t know much about, since the story of Reverie was told from Alanal’s (and therefore, Niloein’s) perspective.
