Meet the Douche Canoe

A first rp between Magnia and Dyrigi where he tries to be smooth but fails, Magnia's an asshole and both of them are sassy snits.

This one's pretty long

[01:00] CMI made SA an OP.

[01:07] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She didn't know why she was doing this exactly. She had heard all the stories about how the landdwellers could be brutish fools who needed to be governed, with their strange powers that could not be controlled. She had never particularly wanted to go above ground, not when she had wonders galore below the surface to explore. But now, she didn't feel so safe under water anymore. If she wanted to explore- and she had stayed cooped up in her hive far too long as it was- she'd go somewhere her friends- her old friends- would never come. The surface. And so she sits, her eyes just above the water, in the shallows of the beach, looking for anything that might ambush her. When the night is still, she slowly picks herself up and walks onto land, her body strangely heavy feeling without the water to support it. --

[01:20] CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] RIGHT NOW responded to memo.

[01:20] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] He sighs and trudges uncomfortably through the dark with a torch in hand to light the way. He stayed out too late and now it is pitch black and incredibly difficult to see. He had problems seeing in the light as it was but this just made it all the worse. His shades are hanging on his shirt because who needs that right now. He just uses was limited vision he has and keeps a sharp ear for any movement other than his. --

[01:20] Because the fire will either scare things off or attracted them. Hopefully scare them off because he does not need this right now.

[01:30] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she walks cautiously up the shore, and peers around into the forest line. It's strange and full of shadows, but the moonlight shining through woods beckons her to explore an unknown world. She sets forward into the forest, gradually getting more used to the weight of being on solid ground, till she can barely hear the waves behind her. Then, a light flashes at her from between the trees. Someone was there. She freezes, then ducks behind a tree to hide. --

[01:36] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he just keeps walking through keeping both arms out, one for his light and the other to make sure he does not bump into anything he might have not seen. He hears some rustling and someone moving away. He hold the torch to where the sound may have come from and tries to move his head in an angle he might actually be able to see if there was someone there. But he keeps quiet and slowly tries to walk past, keeping an e --

[01:36] the general source of the sound.

[01:46] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] the light is coming closer. She can hear footsteps against the grass, and she circles around the tree to keep out of his sight. What was that light? There was nothing like that underwater, not that she had ever seen. The closest she had ever seen was the shifting heat of the underwater volcanoes. She lingers a little too long though, trying look at his torch and she meets his eyes. She gasps, and ducks back behind the tree trunk. His face was awfully scarred, she hadn't ever seen anything like that before. --

[01:57] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he met her gaze for a moment before she slipped back behind the tree. A seadweller. Seadwellers are some nasty business and are incredibly violent and most likely to lash out especially at him. Not being a very high caste. She did duck behind the tree instead of lashing out though but maybe he just broke her cover. He puts his glasses back on, his insecurities crawling back up again since she probably saw, probably --

[01:57] why she gasped. He still backs away from her though, cause he really would rather not tumble with someone in the dark like this. The night is not his strong suit and because of that he trips like a total tool.

[02:12] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] there's no immediate retribution. He doesn't even try and follow her and she peeks back out behind the tree to see him put on his sunglasses and back away. She wasn't sure, but she thought he might be a bit. scared of her. Which he totally should be. But. Yeah his face was scary. Was he gonna be the scary sort of landdweller? She sort of just stares at him for awhile, before retreating a bit more, unable to gather up the courage to say anything. --

[02:18] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] well he was not like super scared but he was of course incredibly wary. He is at all kinds of disadvantages here and especially because she is a seadweller really never makes anything better --

[02:27] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] but when he tripped like a total idiot the torch dropped down on the ground and started to spread its flames. Dry leaves are incredibly flammable so without another thought he jumped back up and stamped it out. Effectively blinding him completely. He groans --

[02:27] CMI: /gOd|dAmmIt\

[02:28] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] then he bends down to pick it back up and try to fummble for his match box, hoping he can light it in the dark. --

[02:32] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] What was that light? It must be a landdweller thing. But then he stomped it out. If he left or something she might never find out. He didn't seem too dangerous. He didn't really look like he was gonna try anything, what with him tripping all over the place, so maybe she could just ask. If it went wrong, she could probably just run back to the sea. Then there was no way he could catch her. No one could outrun or outfight a seadweller in the water. Yes, that was right. He probably didn't even know how to swim or anything. Landwellers, right? She really wanted to know what it was. She swallows then manages to ask quietly. --

[02:32] CSA: wh@t is th@t?

[02:40] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he was trying to light it back up again when he hears Magnia coming out from her tree and asking him what fire was. He looked at her general directions and scratches his head. --

[02:45] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] huffs a little. He sounds like a total buffoon. --

[02:57] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] geez seadwellers and assuming everything. Why must they be so damn defensive. He sighs a bit and just keeps fumbling with his matches --

[03:11] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she watches him light it carefully. what was he doing, telling her his weaknesses. Still she was awfully interested in what he was doing. --

[03:12] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she creeps a little further out from behind the tree so she can get a better look --

[03:21] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] he's been answering all her questions, even if they weren't the most satisfactory of answers. She comes out from behind the tree to creep closer to him and the curious things he was holding. --

[03:26] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he points to the nasty scars on his face before offering it out to her. I mean she probably would not be able to kill him with it. She probably does not know how to use it well so it should be okay. Besides he has another one just in case. --

[03:32] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She takes the torch, staring at it curiously, taking a good look at his face. That horrible scaring, that was because of the fire? She holds her hand close, feeling the scorching warmth of the flames. --

[03:33] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] the warmth warns her off from touching it. The heat is very uncomfortable. --

[03:35] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] good thing she is heeding his word and not touching it I mean it would not be very good for him if she ended up getting hurt and the chance she might blame him and lash out. --

[03:39] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she takes a few steps back and swishes it around a bit, watching the light trail after the patterns. --

[03:41] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] a spark flies off and she flinches as it flies at her. Huh. She holds it back out to him. --

[03:46] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] well at least she did not stab him so that is good, or at least not yet but that is still better than being stabbed right then and there. He reaches over carefully to take it back making sure not to set her off by moving too quickly or anything. --

[03:50] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] he's being all careful, and it doesn't set off any alarms. In fact she's pretty curious about him now. --

[03:53] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] not being stabbed is kind of his priority here so yeah he is being careful and he looks up at her in a little surprise. At least as much surprise as he really ever seems. --

[03:57] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] hm. She supposed if she asked him, she should give him hers. --

[04:06] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she stares at the hand suspiciously. Shaking hands was a sign of trust, and well, frankly she didn't really trust him all that much. She just gives him a nod instead. --

[04:06] CSA: it's nice to meet you too. i guess.

[02:47] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] his fingers curl back into his palm and he lowers his hand. He just looks around at his surroundings remembering it is still night and still dangerous for him to be out as he is. --

[02:48] CMI: so what are you doing out on the surface, I generally thought that seadwellers hated the land

[02:53] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she turns her nose up. This boy probably hasn't even met another seadweller. Probably. --

[02:55] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she takes an uneasy glance around the dark forest. There were so many flickering shadows cast by the torch --

[02:56] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he would scoff at her sudden snobbish attitude but he just keeps that from actually coming out of his mouth. --

[02:58] -- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he kind of looks at the water a bit. He hates getting near to that because those seadwellers may pop out at any time and drag him down. He does not know how to swim so that would not help him much at all. --

[03:05] -- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] sort of wonders if she can pick him up and throw him in the water. He seems to be pretty decent for a landdweller though. --

[03:05] CSA: i dunno you guys h@ve.

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] makes sure he got all his stuff cause he would rather not leave things behind and makes his way to get out, with his arm outsretched and the other holding onto his torch --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she's stuck. When he phrases it like that, he's just holding temptation just right out in front of her nose. She watches as he walks further inland, and her curiosity gets the better of her. This Dyrigi troll didn't seem too terrible and fuck she wanted to see this place. She doesn't say anything but she starts to follow him after a long moment of hesitation. She sort of attempts to be stealthy, but the forest floor isn't something she's even a little bit familiar with --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he hears her following him but does not actually react and pretends not to notice at least not now. The less time he has to spend talking to her in the forest the better, get home somewhere safer for him at least then maybe he can react. --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she crosses her arms. Doesn't quite want to admit being on land is pretty scary. --

Especially when she forgets that she can't tug loose of a tree root and ends up tripping onto the forest floor with a loud oof before picking herself and dusting herself off and ducking behind a tree just in case he looked. She knew he knew, but this was pretty fun anyway. Land was a strange place. Dyrigi never seemed to look up despite the fact there were plenty of places for someone to climb and hang on. She was so much heavier on land too, she always expected that she'd travel further with each step she took. It was kind of disorienting. --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] just keeps walking through the forest, and unlike her he can do it silently. He has had loads of experience with it so it is easy for him. His steps are careful and a bit slow seeing as he needs to be careful still. He can not see well and has to be careful where he steps. But sooner or later he reaches an opening in the forest and not too far from there are some hives built all around. There are a few trolls around --

but no jades besides him.

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She ducks behind a tree at the edge of the clearing and stares at the landdweller hives. Landwellers -lived- there. She wondered what it was landdwellers did in their homes. What if she walked out onto the lawn and then all the other landdwellers attacked her? It was too weird being on land, and she probably couldn't run very well, considering how well she navigated that forest. Her ear fins flatten out against her head and she hesitates to follow, watching as Dyrigi gets farther away. Maybe she should just turn back now. --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she turns around and looks back into the dark forest. At this point, she realizes she has no idea how they got there. Shit. --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] coughOrthoscough --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] curses he noticed. --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she draws out from her hiding place and shyly steps out into the clearing, before jutting her chin in the air. --

CSA: i'm not @fr@id.

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he just keeps walking out further and closer to the other hives, he is not gonna wait around for her to gather her wits. I mean if she is not afraid then she should have no problem --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] What of course she isn't afraid. She stumbles forward once, as if shot forward from a malfunctioning potato gun and starts walking normally, if stiffly, after him. Chin up, forward march. --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] his face does not really look amused but he himselfs finds it kind of funny --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She stops immediately and flushes, but at least he's not laughing too. --

CSA: it's weird w@lking on l@nd.

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she protests, but when she starts walking again it's definitely more subdued. --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] points to this slightly large hive, it looks quite a bit different from a lot of hives, unlike others it lets lots more sun in --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he goes over and unlocks the door. But before going in he looks back at her. --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] she eyes his hive. Those are a lot of windows. --

CSA: i @m uh, i'm coming inside.

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She can't turn back and she doesn't know where else to go. What has she gotten into? --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] he closes the door after they both go in. --

-- CURRENT mortalIllumination [CMI] just tons of vials and plants. It is not exactly a very organized hive and there are tons of notes and rock carvings all over the walls. --

-- CURRENT spiralingAscension [CSA] She jumps, just a little when the door closes behind her and she peers out into his hive. Man it was messy in here. --
