ada had been at work when he got the call, the news delivered by the doctor on the other side of the line was almost enough to make her forget about their last encounter. or at least for the time being. it didn't take long for her to drop everything and head to the hospital, concern clear in her features as she asks the nurses for directions. long legs are walking down the quiet hallway that reality sinks in, the two hadn't spoken in months, and she would be lying if she said she hadn't hated every single minute of it. sure, the two had fallen out of touch before, but this time felt different. so ... final. trembling fingers reach for the doorknob, her heart clenched in her chest as she finally gathers the strength to push the door open, an array of monitors beeped rhythmically, their sounds melding into a dissonant symphony that made her feel lightheaded. When she doesn't receive a response, she quickly puts away all the items that require refrigeration before she peeks her head out to search for her roommate. It's as she walks into the open space of the living room that the door of the bathroom opens and her roommate steps out. Naked. "Oh! I'm sorry!" In a rush, she attempts to cover her eyes, devolving into a fit of giggles.
