“Each morning should start with a hike, regardless of the weather.”
As an avid hiker, each day started or ended with a hike. When working night shifts at the hospital my schedule was inconsistent. Sometimes I would skip hikes because of the grueling 12 hours of work the night before. Then slowly I got into the habit of hiking after work for a minimum of 3 miles. I felt refreshed and even regenerated at the end of the morning.
On my free days I would hike to new places without a map. But I always made sure that I had the essentials in case of an emergency. Practicing these small activities with the right tools made me feel confident enough to hike outside of the trails. Each time I ventured on my own or with a friend was a new adventure and also helped me connect with nature and help build tactics without using technology like GPS.
Enjoy the outdoors everyone and be safe!
