karaoke : my muse pulls your muse up on stage with them to sing some karaoke songs. / daehyun n danbi
with a mic on her right hand and the holding gaze of several eyes on her, including her boyfriend and her best friend — that was strangely nodding in approval, it was almost impossible to get away for any longer. danbi abolished the act of singing ever since she decided to leave wndr, mostly because of being insecure about her technique and voice. while all the other girls were self-made and complete talent, she had to be the one trying hard not to fall flat on behind, just for a year before having to quit for more money-making opportunities. in a stupid manner, danbi always felt like she owned something to the music that she never pursued. that was completely crazy, but in her piece of mind, singing was like taking advantage of a life she left behind, that perhaps was too weird to look back. in many ways, she was happy to be the average good-looking korean girl enough to make good drama scenes on the television to pay rent and that was it for her career — perhaps that was the reason she was so seeker of love beyond the screenplay. now that at least that was a safe reality, could it be the opportunity to let it go for once and all? it was for the best, she knew that when she saw her friends succeeding and archiving their dreams, even though there was still a block of what if behind the back of her mind. when seulgi opened her mouth to remember everyone that danbi once sang, it was a matter already doomed to let her get on that karaoke. with daehyun behind her, giving her the mic kind of excitedly. ‘ this is super stupid. ’ she said more to herself, but still got caught over the microphone just before the song she chooses before knowing it was actually gonna happen. everyone there was an artist of some kind and there she was, probably going to bring shame to all of them with her mediocre voice in a 2002′s hit of avril lavigne. ‘ i’m sorry, avril, really. ’ just before the first lyrics begin, she took a deep breath trying to not look straight across the party of people, mostly engaged on a conversation or things of their own — which was a relief. as soon as she started, it wasn’t some rocket science, she still sang on the shower all that time it wasn’t like it was hard… danbi was just trying to avoid looking over at her boyfriend almost right before her, even though she could sense his eyes and grin staring in awe all the time. in television that was never a thing. once she was done filming, it was done, she would go home and the episode would air later for everyone, she would see the feedback online and then not exactly meet them in the eyes with their opinions on her acting. but being live was completely different, and at least for that, she was glad she never choose that life. living behind a script was challenging, but sometimes comfortable and even if she had to do her own impersonating of characters and stories, mastering that became part of her life. now the creativity of being there on stage, musically speaking, was something she incredibly admired by the people she was surrounded, specially daehyun who was probably the most talented and genius person she ever came to know. nevertheless, she was still a performer of some kind, come good or bad, it was entertaining and that’s exactly it’s purpose. by the end, she probably forgot the whole concept of onwing something to the music she never made real and just sang, laugh, then hid her face behind her hands before leaving to embrace her boyfriend right in front of her. ‘ i am sorry but please, never make me do something like that again !! ’
