Eddie stepped out to the yard and sighed. Another day of surviving. This had been going on now for about five years. Once the walkers had started to emerge and take over everything, the teachers of the boarding school left. They left the kids behind, to defend themselves. But much to anyone’s surprise, they did survive. Well.. Some of them. They had lost many of their friends, there was now just ten left. They could always leave, find more people to survive with, but the scool was well secluded in the forest, with a tall rock wall around the yard. They were able to hunt animals in the forest and there was a river nearby too, where they could catch some fish. They had proper weapons and everyone had their duties to do. Eddie had emerged into their leader --- Though not by his choice. When the adults left, the kids were all scared and panicking, not knowing what to do. So Eddie decided that someone needed to tell them what to do, figure out how to survive and knock some sense into them. Encourage them. They all nominated Eddie as their leader.
He walked over to the gates and looked around. No walkers nearby, that was good. Then he heard a crash in a distance and flinched a bit. That didn’t sound good. “Smoke!! There’s smoke coming nearby the old train station!!” Willie shouted from the look-out post up at the wall. “Do you see anyone?” Eddie asked. “No! But some walkers are heading that way!” He said. Eddie thought for a bit. Maybe there were survivors. “Molly, Jay! Grab weapons and come with me! We’ll go see if someone might need our help!” He called. Soon, the three were running towards the smoke, killing some walkers on their way. Once they arrived at the scene, a whole herd of walkers were at a car. Eddie could hear someone’s voice coming from the car. “What do we do?” Molly asked. “We have to help them.” Eddie decided and took out his gun, starting to shoot the walkers. The three of them shot them and got to the car. Eddie saw a young guy inside, struggling with the seatbelt. He took out his knife and cut it loose. “Come on! We have to run!” He said and helped him out of the car. They all started to run away into the forest.
