No Life Itu Apa Kak?

Tulisan ini digunakan untuk keperluan e-bulletin radio BPRS ERAFM UNJ di bulan September 2018.

Buat Edufriend yang juga merupakan netizen mungkin sering melihat kata ini di berbagai media sosial. Kata ‘no’ berarti tidak dan ‘life’ adalah hidup. No Life sendiri dapat dimaknai sebagai tidak adanya kehidupan atau tidak memiliki sesuatu yang dilakukan. Seringkali no life disamakan dengan gabut (gaji buta) yang sering dikatakan oleh remaja. Edufriend pasti sering mengalami situasi no life ini. Seperti liburan semester kemarin, Edufriend tentu memiliki saat dimana Edufriend tidak tahu untuk melakukan apapun.

Nah, sekarang kita sudah memasuki semester baru nih, Edufriend. Tentunya kita harus semangat dalam menjalankan kuliah dan tidak no life lagi hehehe. Dalam menjalankan kehidupan sebagai mahasiswa, semestinya kita manfaatkan kesempatan kita di usia yang muda ini. Karena masih muda, tentunya kita harus memiliki jiwa yang produktif !. Lengkapi kehidupan kuliahmu dengan hal yang kamu suka.

Bisa dengan berwirausaha seperti membuat online shop atau sekedar jualan cemilan di kelas, mendalami hobi, mengikuti organisasi kampus atau komunitas, atau mengeksplor hal baru yang belum pernah Edufriend lakukan misalnya merajut, mendaki gunung, melukis, ikut kegiatan relawan, dan sebagainya. Banyak banget hal yang bisa Edufriend lakukan, maka dari itu yuk jangan jadi mahasiswa no life !.

Regional Committee Update

The October SREDA Regional Committee meeting was met by good attendance by regional partners.  A sub-committee was formed to look at the possibility of regional housing strategies by way of ECHO funding.  The Regional Committee meetings are held as a round table; these meetings are beneficial and informative as community leaders share contacts that may lead to business connections being made in the region.

Progress2Capital Business Planning Competition, 2013  

Applications are now being taken for the 2013 Progress2Capital Business Planning Competition. Application deadline is January 13th, 2013. This competition is hosted and sponsored by SREDA and Regina Regional Opportunities Commission (RROC).

The Progress2Capital (P2C) Business Planning Competition is aimed at providing support and resources to entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan. P2C focuses on developing the business capacity and expertise for new start-ups through a six-month program of mentorship, training, guidance, and networking.

~Working on Landmark Buildings:

Renovation, Restoration and Reuse of Landmarked Buildings in New York

An Informational Seminar~

  Join the Historic Districts Council on for a program discussing performing restoration, renovation and adaptive reuse work on designated landmark buildings in New York City. There are over 25,000 buildings in New York City which are overseen and regulated by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. These buildings range from rowhouses in Brooklyn Heights to commercial buildings in Midtown Manhattan, and include prominent well-known structures such as Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building and Tweed Courthouse. Projects affecting these buildings require not only working with a special municipal agency, but understanding the basic philosophy of historic preservation as it is practiced in New York.

  Hear from experts who will detail case studies of real preservation projects, discuss new methods and materials, and get answers to frequently-asked questions about the regulatory process and working with Landmarks Preservation Commission. Attendees will come away with a new understanding of the Landmarks process which will greatly help them with future projects affecting historic properties.

  Celebrate Our 40th Birthday with a drink and a chat with some of our founders.

The Historic Districts Council was formed in 1971 as a committee at the Municipal Art Society, consisting of representatives from New York City’s designated and proposed historic districts. Join us for cocktails and a stroll down memory lane to look back at how and why the organization was created and how it has evolved.

  The event will feature a conversation with some of the influential founders and early leaders of the Historic Districts Council, including Kent Barwick, Michael Gruen, Lorna Nowve, and Bronson Binger (pictured at far left receiving HDC’s 2011 Mickey Murphy Award with Ann Walker Gaffney). The discussion, moderated by HDC Chairman Emeritus Anthony C. Wood, will focus on the beginnings of HDC and the preservation movement of the 1970s. Co-sponsored by our friends at the New York Preservation Archive Project.

    ~ Monday Morning Coffee Talk~

  Preserving Cultural and Historic Landscapes of New York City Parks

Monday, June 6 at 8:30am

  Joseph Disponzio will discuss how NYC Department of Parks and Recreation is approaching the preservation of the cultural and historic landscape resources of New York City. His talk will center on the writing and use of cultural landscape reports to help guide the restoration of historic landscapes. Reports on Conference House Park in Staten Island, Poe Park in the Bronx, and Weeping Beech Park in Queens analyze layers of history within our parks, including early natural history and Robert Moses’ modern influence. He will also discuss how DPR is meeting the challenge of implementing the Mayor’s PlaNYC Million Tree initiative, while preserving the open-space of our parks.

  Joseph Disponzio, Ph.D., R.L.A. is a preservation landscape architect for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

  ~Isham Park, Inwood Celebrates its Centennial~

  Volunteers for Isham Park kicks off the 100th birthday of the park with historic readings and cake!  May 25th is the centennial anniversary of Julia Isham Taylor’s letter offering family’s land for the creation of Isham Park around which the neighborhood of Inwood would later develop.  Come enjoy the impressive, recently restored views of the surrounding waterways that Ms. Taylor sought to preserve.   ~Rally to Save the Bowery!~

  Join us and our colleagues on Wednesday, May 25 at 6pm in front of 35 Cooper Square to mourn the loss of this 1825 Federal building and demand that the remainder of the historic Bowery gains protection now!

  The Bowery Alliance of Neighbors has a list of properties on the Bowery endorsed by Council member Margaret Chin – ranging from 1807 Federal townhouses to 20th century Beaux-Arts bank buildings - which need to be landmarked. Please join us in raising our voices to ensure that 35 Cooper Square is the last historic building on the Bowery to fall.
