Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered to probe e-tailers like Amazon and Flipkart over their discounting practices, exclusive brand launches on the platforms and the preferential treatment they have allegedly offered to certain mobile phones sellers.
Displaying their anger and resentment against "colonising" e-commerce market and Retail Trade of India, large number of traders have staged a day long hunger strike in several parts of the country under the aegis of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has held a discussion with Competition Commission of India (CCI) on "unethical competition" perpetrated by e-commerce firms, a day after Union minister Piyush Goyal said the government was investigating into alleged predatory pricing by Flipkart and Amazon.
The Jodhpur Bench of Rajasthan High Court, while hearing a petition of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) filed against predatory pricing and deep discounting by Amazon and Flipkart and violation of FDI policy, ordered the Union Government to file its reply within two weeks informing the Court about action taken by the Government and to make clear whether e-commerce platforms of both Amazon & Flipkart are violating the policy or not.
