Emmet stopped by the precinct to drop something off for James that he’d forgotten at his house. If it wasn’t his lunch that he was forgetting, it was something else. When he got there he saw someone sitting in the chair next to James with his feet kicked up and looking like a smirk on his face. Getting closer he saw James was blushing which made Emmet a tad angry. Was he the jealous type? Absolutely.
He dropped the thing off on James’ desk, ignoring him as he tried to say something to him and going back outside to his car. He shot off a text to James as soon as he got in.

He drove home and waited for James to get off work, sulking to himself. Emmet was in his living room on the couch, watching some random show he didn’t really have an interest in. He heard the door open and saw as James walked in and got off the couch, heading over to him. James was about to say something to Emmet when he stopped James by pulling him into a kiss.

Emmet was feeling down more than usual lately, having a harder time since it was around that time of the year his mom had passed when he was younger. He knew if he told one of his partners how he was feeling they’d be right there to make him feel better but mixed with his anxiety and just the ache of missing his mom he felt like a bother to anyone around him. Emmet ended up at the Birch Bar wanting a more quiet place to drink and had slammed back two drinks and working on his third when he spotted Cosmo taking up the spot next to him.
He didn’t say anything really, gave a small smile and a nod to him as his way of saying hi before going back to staring at his glass absently, his fingers tapping it in thought. He considered Cosmo a friend but wasn’t feeling up for conversation unless the other wanted to start one before finishing off his glass and ordering yet another drink.
