I’m not gonna lie, the first thing that came to mind when you said “feminized version of Bob” was Bobbina. And I giggled. But it’s not like Bob is a hard name to call someone, anyway?

Actually yeah, it would always be like made-up versions that somehow end with an “a.”  And occasionally “Bobbie,” which feels very 80′s/Jazzercise/perm/high-cut-leotard-over-neon-leggings to me.

But there was a dude in college who liked to call me Robert, and I got a kick out of that.

I have been wondering about this for ages, but didn’t want to ask because I’m kind of a new follower and I feel like you must get asked a lot, and it’s actually been bothering me that I didn’t know how to talk about you, so…. Thank you Anon for along the hard question for me!

I actually don’t get asked very often!  And I don’t mind being asked the same question more than once, especially when it’s a totally innocent and considerate question!

I’m probably somewhere in the non-binary/genderqueer range, and this name/pronoun combination has felt like the easiest solution to me.  I’ve had some people in real life (mostly coworkers) who were too weirded out to call me Bob and insisted on mispronouncing my legal name instead, or people who’d call me by some sort of feminized variant of Bob which kind of ruins it, but overall it hasn’t been much of an issue.
