Orcasome! Post Caption by @maestro320 "Momma Calling" - 🔵Maestro's Notes: Listen towards the end of the video. This amazing footage was filmed off the Coast of Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania courtesy of Our Friends In Conservation, Ecotourism Company, Wild Ocean Tasmania @wildoceantasmania - Tracking a pod of Orcas together with researchers from IMAS and Killer Whales Australia to help with the identification and behavioural studies. This footage shows a young Orca (estimated 4-5yo) swimming playfully towards us. You can see it's mother out in the distance. ❤ Listen to their amazing vocals that we attached to the end of the clip! Researchers suggest it might be the mother calling it's young to come closer. #killerwhalesaustralia Soundtrack: Ocean by John Butler Killer whale cows mature at the age of 15 and give birth at very different rates until they are about 40. They average one calf per cow every five years. A female that lived to be over 90 had five or six offspring in her lifetime. Killer whale females seem to experience menopause. For a long time it was thought only human females had menopause. - #Conservation #Education #Research #OceanOptimism🌊 #OneOceanGlobal🌏 @oneoceanglobal #Orca #OrcaVocalisation #EaglehawkNeck #Tasmania #BlackFish #NoFishNoBlackFish #WeAreTheOrca #NoToCaptivity
