In the early 1970′s, I first saw a coin operated beer dispenser in a pub and assumed that, despite the need for bar staff to serve cocktails and so on, future pubs would be at least partially automated.

A modern version relies on swiping bank cards rather than inserting coins, but on the whole seems to belong to a future that never happened.

A web search for “automatic beer dispenser” gives results mostly for coffee machines.
