Agony And Ecstasy - Donna J. Cox

With the computer, I can program and encode my logic, aesthetics, and concepts. The computer is my collaborator. We interact through an exchange of logic, intuition, and chance. Hardware/Software: The AGONY AND ECSTASY was created from a digitized self-portrait using my home-grown software, running on a PDP 11/45 Mainframe and a Stanford Technology Computer Frame Buffer.

Mondrian Experiment by A. Michael Noll, 1964

An experiment  done by Noll juxtaposing a Mondrian's 'Composition with Lines' (1917) with a similar piece generated by a computer using an algorithm and viewers were asked to compare then. Left is an article he wrote on the experiment.The results were very interesting in that very few correctly identified the Mondrian version.
