Been revisiting one of the first OAV series I ever loved: Key the Metal Idol. How it hasn’t been released on blu ray is beyond me, as it’s a stunning work of art and filmmaking in general. Much of it went way over my head at 13 or 14, but I appreciate it more fully now. I also can see why I was so drawn to this forlorn waif of a robot girl, when I myself was a fish out of water, not fully awake to what made me different. Key is part Pinocchio story, part blade runner, with an incredible J-Rock soundtrack. When I first started out to become I poet I turned to the lyrics of Lennon, Morrison, and Dylan for influences. But it only got me so far because I was reading something that was not really poetic. It wasn't until I actually started reading the works of real poets who understood poetic conventions and language that my work began to take shape.
