It was a rough first day at prelims with handoffs and timing issues but the maturity these girls showed last night and today was impressive. We met last night and they were very self aware of what they needed to change and how to do it. We woke this morning to cold temperatures and drizzle - it only amplified their determination. This is the type of weather we've had all year it seemed so to run in the cold was just another meet to them. In fact, these four appeared to be happy that the weather in Abilene was bipolar. They finished Finals taking 2nd in the 4x100m Relay and 1st in the 4x100m Relay. I'll take a bounce back like that any day. Now we prepare for State in 2 weeks in Austin. No time to rest. •••••••• What many don't know is that these girls, along with our entire team, has been running with a bigger purpose this year. Earlier in the season when we learned of Mount Pleasant's Track Team suffering the loss of Coach Beard and the other coaches and athletes injured in the bus crash we wanted to dedicate any victory this season to them. This season we run for those who will never coach again. For those who will be missed because of the impact they had on athletes. For those who are still recovering from injuries. For those who are forever changed by tragedy. We run for you.
