Pretty high on the list of ways Barbie can be marketed or packaged is to pair with a human-sized accessory or piece of equipment. Often this takes the form of jewelry for the child, famously as with the Earring Magic series which came with clip-on earrings. Not that this is the thing anyone remembers about Earring Magic.

(Yes, the Earring Magic series. There were five of them, even if four were well and truly outshone by #5.)

But not always! Sometimes Mattel got a bit creative with these, in order to find new markets. For example, Pretty Flowers Barbie which came with a watering can and shovel.

Note of course this is a separate phenomenon from Barbie accessories being marketed by themselves. A crucial part of the experience to me is that you get a doll too. Unfortunately that makes it kind of hard to search for unless you already know what you're looking for, because most of what dominates the search results is the accessories on their own.

(Incidentally the glitter on this promotional picture makes Brooklyn look like she is surrounded by radiation that is distorting the picture. Barbenheimer indeed.)

So over the weekend I FINALLY opened up the rest of that 80s-90s New in Box Barbie stuff I thrifted last year, this being remaining dolls (and the Pepsi Spirit Barbie I got from eBay with B-Day Money Last year) Again Didn't take any out of box photos yet as I mainly just wanted to get everything unpackaged so I can finally have that closet space back. And yes that's the version o Earring Magic Barbie that comes with the 2 Barbie PC games on Floppy Discs which were included.
