Hi I’m here thinking about Blorbos from my Games and decided to make it your problem as well (affectionately)

Anyway what are some headcanons you have for the main protagonists/playable party members (or even just various characters) of the MOTHER/Earthbound series? Very curious and wanna blab about them hehe

Okay. Ahem.

For Ness, I headcanon that he’s a pretty stalwart guy who is usually quiet and shy (especially at the start of the game, e.g., the start of the Frank fight), but there are two things in the world that can make him smile: taking selfies and riding his bike LOL

For Paula, I headcanon that people call her Paula Polestar consistently and it *pisses* her off because her last name is Jones if I’m not mistaken. And also she’s pretty sweet usually but can and will shove Jeff’s face in the dirt repeatedly if necessary. I also headcanon that she gets a little skittish around blue haired men because of when the Blue Blue Cult guy (I forgot his name dang) kidnapped her and tried to marry her lol

For Jeff, I headcanon that he gets a little depressed whenever Ness calls his dad or starts whining about being homesick and missing his mom, because he doesn’t have a very good relationship with his dad and his mom is presumed to be dead. I also headcanon that he likes to tease Paula and that they have a sibling-like relationship (mostly because of some really funny oneshots my sister wrote where they had this dynamic) but he is also scared to the death of Paula. Also he doesn’t feel jealous or ashamed that he doesn’t have PSI, he knows he kicks butt anyway

For Poo, I headcanon that he kinda has a crush on Paula but will never. Never. Ever ever ever admit it or act on it because he can TELL, he can TELL, that Ness likes her too and Ness is his master and he would never do anything to betray his master

also I ship Tracy and Porky they’re so cute to me lol. I imagine that Tracy like let it slip one day that she was dating Porky (in the future ofc, when she’s older lol) and Ness just like slammed his hands on the table and called a family intervention 😂

that’s all <333 I don’t really have any headcanons for the other 2 games because I’ve only beaten Earthbound, but if I think of any I’ll edit this post!!! Also thanks for the ask!!!!

Earthbound Headcanons

because im almost done with my first playthrough and need to document these. also spoilers warning Ness i always saw him as pre-Giygas to be like brothers in, like, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows. A general pest, obnoxious, but means well (mostly). Owns a guitar somewhere, because of PSI Rockin'. But he never plays it because one of the strings broke one day and just decided 'well, i guess im not doing that anymore' (this is me projecting... only a little bit) Plays with dolls with Tracy sometimes. He has a very convincing girl voice He and Poo didn't get along at first. When you mix a goofball with someone as serious as Poo on an important mission like saving the world, things don't go well at first apparently He's lactose intolerant. But that won't prevent him from drinking milk and eating ice cream. Or eating a burger with extra cheese straight from the trash can. He very much is this one panel of Ash Ketchum:

Paula She's the definition of 'these people are so weird, thank goodness im the only normal person here'. Was the only one that was slightly weirded out by all the weird turns their journey was taking, but after the Fourside Department Store incident, she just kind of accepted that the whole journey was going to be weird. The cat on top of the Polestar Preschool was a stray they took in. Her name is Miss Muffin, and she's decently popular with the children there. She's actually a big fan of Venus, she has an autographed poster of her somewhere that she got from the Topolla. Jeff Book smarts? Yes, plenty. Street smarts? Absolutely zero. He knows less about the streets than a sheltered kitten First day in the Dusty Dunes Desert he almost died. There's not really any other temperature other than below freezing in Winters, so he wasn't expecting to get blasted by what felt like air fire. He can actually play the piano and violin. He also offered to fix Ness' guitar which Ness definitely forgot about. Completely oblivious to the fact Tony likes him, denser than a brick. Everything flies so far over his head it actually hits a satellite in space. He is Ravi Ross from Jesse. the bubblegum monkey is his Mrs. Kipling. Poo He thought that the other heroes and saviors of the world would be a lot... cooler. Instead he gets a middle schooler who eats out the trash, a preschool volunteer, and a British nerd. He learns to love them. No parents, his master is his regent until he's of age. I only see ONE throne in that palace. Think first, act later type of person. Everytime i got a chicken in this game, Poo always held it. Therefore he loves chickens. With Paula in the 'everyone here is so weird, thank god im the only normal one' train. Ness gave him a hamburger once. Didn't go well His favorite food is kishkiyya. although he does also like ròubǐngr (from when i was binging tasting history while playing earthbound)

Uncovering my highschool Mother 2 headcanon diary like it's the ancient scripts

NESS' MOM AND DAD. I named his dad Kuronushi Super(his english name, his real last name is 楽しい[Tanoshii]) and his mom Margret Super...I didn't give her a maiden name. OOPS.

Giving her one now...Margret MacCarthy.

Literally earthbound was how I survived highschool.

In my M1+M2 canon that I STILL want to make into a full fledged comic series, that's on the bucket list:

I think I made Ninten fully filipino? [It wasn't uncommon for filipinas to like...bleach themselves to look like white women so maybe Queen Mary would do that in the turn of the 20th century in america especially ☹️]

Meanwhile Ness is simply wasian...irish/japanese. Honestly making him celtic makes the "Ness/Tess" name make more sense. Hehe.

*Sneezes* okay MOTHER characters from shortest to tallest headcanons,

MOTHER 1: Pippi and Mimmie and Minnie (same heights), then Lloyd, Ana, Ninten, Teddy. Don't have a comparrisson for them to the others, but as a side note Maria is significantly taller than George.

MOTHER 2/Earthbound: Porky, Ness (although he'd one day hit a growth spurt and become like 6 ft), Paula (Paula is BARELY taller), Jeff, Tony (slightly), Poo.

MOTHER 3: honestlyyyy a lot of these are canon but, Lucas and Claus it switches who's taller like every other week (is always only by like a centimeter or less though), then Fuel, Nana, Kumatora, Flint, Duster.

Ninten Headcanons

• Ninten has heterochromia!! His left eye is brown while his right is green

• He's not as tough/brave as everyone thinks he is (he doesn't technically have his own unique offensive, but he *does* have 4th-D-Slip, which only he knows). He has been known to scream (and sometimes cry) after seeing a spider/wasp, and hates the dark.

• He's super kind and doesn't take shit from anyone. If someone's being mean to him (let alone anyone else), he will fight them

• Ninten is bi!!

• He wears his inhaler around his neck at all times for immediate use

• He hates being in really big cities (the car exhaust triggers his asthma)

• He can't go into cemetaries without someone else with him (he's still paranoid from when he went into the cemetary to save Pippi)

Earthbound Head canons (Ness and pokey)

Im actually at the part where I meet Paula! Im still early In the game but I had to write that fic!!! here are some head canons I have for ness and pokey because I can. 

NESS: 

He can talk to animals. Maybe he always had this power. Or maybe he got it after he met buzz buzz. Since the game shows what the animals are saying in translation I like to think that Ness can and if he did he and tracy only knows.

Only befriended Pokey because his mom made him. His mom felt pity on Pokey for whatever reason and decided to bribe his son into being friends with him. 

His favorite Nintendo game is Zelda. 

He and Pokey used sneak out so they can go to the arcade and play games. (Pokey usually makes him go)

His dog was once a stray since there are many in onett. He and Tracy fought over who gets to name him. They both settled on King. 

Homeschooled (Idk) 

POKEY:

Developed a habit of cursing from his parents. They would say things like shit and fuck. his favorite curse word was cunt. 

he has gotten good at becoming very sneaky and likes to sneak out of the house to hang out with Ness at an unreasonable hour. Ness’s mom usually calls his parents when he gets caught. 

he mostly raised his little brother. his parents can be sometimes neglective when they are not trying to fake their image.

ness is the new leader of the sharks that is my new headcanon and i bet that he made them into like a charity group that donates food and money and also teaches kids how to hula hoop and pogo and ironically yes man junior teaches them refusal skills
