Working on a new clay oven.
Okay 5 days later, general brain dump... Outside creamy lime plaster. Inside all walls and ledges plastered. One slightly lavender cuddle nook plaster. Fermented plaster covered. All gaps in the walls filled except some very small gaps in new wood. Many windows polished. Minor floor damage, so yay linseed oil hardened earth floor, go you. Tired and dirty now. #earthplaster #earthbuilding #cobhouse #tinyhouse #VernacularArchitecture #limeplaster One door and some interior design bits and that's that. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bxn3xw_lNR2/?igshid=138a2frh54xy9
Winter update!
Auditioning a fold out table cupboard & what the difference is between a regular plaster (above) and am inadvertently fermented plaster from the same batch.
Our reused liqueur bottle windchime has survived another storm! Two buckets from the same materials for different purposes the top one is rain eroded plaster the bottom is rain eroded floor mix, look at the difference in both straw and sand granularity.
Winter light on the north wall at 3pm, it's still low enough on the horizon to come under the small roof edge and thanks to the nearby clear cut we get WAY more winter evening light, so mixed curse/blessing.
West wall lights made from peanut butter jars wrapped in foil tape doubt a great job of bouncing in the final light of the day.
This view could be ours including Mt Ranier... If only this slope wasn't a moderate land slide hazard... Maybe someday we'll hand clear a spot deeper in the forest to build a little hut/gazebo to enjoy this from.
Working on building plans for the next phase this summer and dreaming of a lime plaster spring.
His and hers wood-fired hot tubs all plastered in. #cob #naturalbuilding #earthbuilding #clay #diy (at North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzrh--FBHk6/?igshid=14qkb29dfyllo
Last of the "before" photos... In two weeks, barring surprises, this house will be down to interior design details. It's been a long road and I can't believe we're nearly there. 11" of cob around the top, lime plaster to keep it safe, what ever it's going on with the solarium and maybe some paint and fascia. An experienced crew of 7 plus 2 of us and 7 days... Let's see what we can do! #cobbuilding #earthbuilding #earthenplaster #diy #cobhouse https://www.instagram.com/p/BxL_IQMlwdW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7zwflf3udi4c
Buldmas end of day 2. Plaster patches in irregular cob, filled in impossible gaps, finished lime plaster to the left of the door, and butter cream plaster to the north. The reshaping of the solarium really taking fluid shape. Thank you #mudgirls ! 3 more days to go. #tinyhouse #cobhouse #earthplaster #earthbuilding #VernacularArchitecture https://www.instagram.com/p/BxfTBtpFh42/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=v8bzxdb6p1uf
