En aproximadamente media hora de caminata encontramos 4 tortugas de patas amarillas muertas. Estoy seguro de que esta tortuga y las demás ya se habían reunido, eran demasiado lentos para escapar del fuego y quemaron el interior de sus caparazones. Según el tamaño del caparazón que se ve en esta foto, creemos que esta tortuga tenía aproximadamente 20-30 años. otras tres que encontramos fueron más pequeñas, una no mucho más grande que una mano humana, lo que significa que apenas estaba empezando a vivir. Las tortugas de patas amarillas son la sexta especie de tortuga más grande en la tierra y están en peligro de extinción. Fue uno de los días más tristes que he tenido este año. Lo único que eliminó parte del dolor fueron las mariposas púrpuras que aterrizan en la cáscara, que se pueden ver en esta fotografía.
