The Single Traveller
Traditional online dating sites are currently the only things on the web that are geared solely towards single people. Whilst these are OK for anyone interested in dating, their usage pretty much ends there. This was one of the main things that Earthrumble wanted to address this when they created their online community for singles.
Travelling was once something that was limited to gap year students and eternal free spirits. It wasn’t seen as a thing for ‘grown ups’ to do once they had found their careers and ‘settled down’. As attitudes change people are realising that they can pick up and jet off at any age in search of an adventure. The usual considerations still apply, “Can I afford it?” “Where shall I go?” and of course “Who shall I go with?” For a single person with friends in relationships, the final question can be somewhat of a puzzler.
Travelbug was set up by Earthrumble with exactly this in mind. For no extra cost, verified Earthrumble members can place an ad on Travelbug looking for people to travel with. They can post their ideal destination, when they want to go and what kind of group they’d like to get together.
Travelbug is part of Earthrumble’s overall aim to create an online community that complements all aspects of a single persons live, not just the fact that they are not in a relationship. Yes, single people want to go online to find a date- Earthrumble have not ignored this . Their optional Connect membership allows users to identify other members who are interested in dating. However, single people are also interesting in finding others to travel with, people to share a flat with or maybe even go to a gig with.
Earthrumble’s Travelbug launches on Sunday 20th March
The Online Dating Stigma
‘I never thought I would, but here I am.’ This statement has been said (and even typed) by many as they create their very first online dating profile. This common phrase lends fuel to the fiery thought that online dating is still seen as a last resort for many. It suggests that for a large number of people, the online dating sites out there have failed to shake off the stigma that’s attached to meeting someone online.
Earthrumble knows that single people regularly join gyms, attend language classes and create book clubs as a way of both enriching their lives and opening the doors to the possibility of meeting someone new. These things are done by many and openly talked about with confidence; however when it comes to online dating the same can’t be said.
What’s missing from all of these online dating sites out there is the community aspect. Earthrumble provides a place where single people can do what they would normally do offline, online. It’s a space on the web carved out exclusively for singles where they can organically meet someone online.
At Earthrumble, members can log in, chill out in one of the many lounges and just chat to people about a shared topic of interest – just as you would at a language class or book club. But being just for singles, if you're interested in dating there’s the chance that someone else in the lounge may be interested in dating too. If not single people still get the benefit of being involved in a community of likeminded people. Earthrumble provides a place where single people can invest their time and get a maximum life fulfilling return, not just a list of who's available in their area.

Online Dating With a Difference
The web isn’t really catered for singles. Sounds like a crazy thing to say when there are so many online dating sites out there, right? However, there is method behind the madness. All of the dating sites in the UK only aim to link single people together for dating or casual relationships.
Earthrumble wants to extend this traditional online dating service to reach all aspects of a single person’s life. The makers of Earthrumble know that, as well as dating, single people often want to find people they can go travelling with, attend a festival with or even start a book club or have a coffee with. There is currently limited space on the web that fulfils this brief in a safe, stylish way.
Facebook reported yesterday that they have reached 30million active users in the UK. That equates to around half of the population. Facebook has become an incredible tool for staying connected to friends we already have, and making links with friends we once knew - but what about meeting new people?
Earthrumble is turning the original methods of social networking on its head. Users will be encouraged to meet brand new people. Earthrumble has no option import your email contacts to see who you already know on the site. Instead users will be encouraged to socialise, chat, share photos and ideas with new people they meet through the site.
Earthrumble have an abundance of tricks up their proverbial sleeves to ensure that their single members can find like minded people. Firstly are the Earthrumble Lounges. They provide a place where users can connect over a love of Animals, Film, Heavy Metal, Wine, Business and more. Also, launching soon will be the Earthrumble Travelbug. This will allow single people to make links with others and organise that potentially life changing trip they've always dreamed of.
And of course, the online dating aspect still there. Members can upgrade to the Earthrumble their status if and when they decide they want to start looking for a relationship.
Earthrumble Freebies day
To celebrate the birth of a fresh look at online dating, Earthrumble will be launching a day of freebies on Thursday 24rd February.
Let’s face it; online dating has gotten a little stale. The premise is great, go online, met someone, get married and become the new face of Match.com. But it doesn’t always work like that, and more importantly many of the free online dating sites out there are missing one HUGE thing. Yeah singles want to date, but their lives do not revolve around looking for a date.
Earthrumble has launched to offer single people a bit more - the opportunity to meet people for travel, business, friendship student life and of course dating. The chance to chat about hobbies, get a group together, meet offline, maybe even hook up for a festival.
So to make sure you’re up to date with your favourite bands, from 12.00pm to 4.59pm on Thursday 24th February, the first 10 Earthrumble sign ups of the hour will receive a free £5 iTunes voucher.
Keep your eye on the clock for your 5 chances of winning, and get signing up at the following times.
