Plant of the Day
Friday 5 July 2019
The pale blue understated flowers of the clump-forming herbaceous perennial Amsonia tabernaemontana var. salicifolia (eastern bluestar) were adding interest to this border in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada. The plant has a milky sap that contains latex, which can irritate the skin, this slight toxicity has an advantage as slugs and snails are said to rarely damage the emerging shoots.
