Renfri is from Creyden, daughter of Prince Fredefalk. His wife Aridea had a magic mirror for foretelling. It showed her that she and lots of people would die a horrible death at the hands of Renfri, who was born under the curse of the Black Sun. She told the Council, who sent Stregobor, who believed in the curse, confirmed the queen's suspicions, and the queen hired a thug to kill Renfri in the forest, but she killed him and escaped. Aridea sent assassins after her but none returned. (1/2)
Kept at it for 4 years anyway. Some time later Aridea was found dead in the bed, mb poisoned by the king after he found a younger mistress. It's in "The Last Wish", part "The Lesser Evil". (Sorry if it's weird and out of nowhere, you didn't ask for it, but. Eh. Sorry if I'm mansplaining 😅) (2/2)
thank you for the info! i read the witcher wiki page on her but none of it really landed i guess, other than i finally saw the snow white parallels. my fix-it is leaning into the fairy tale side of things and canon is diverging way earlier in geralt’s story. i guess maybe it’s not a fix-it anymore but the point is, renfri is a feral motherfucker who won’t die and will murder everyone on her path to vengeance, while geralt is trying to get her to chill the fuck out because her heart might burst (side effect of eating a poison apple).
