“Easy I Fall” seems a proper title for our compelling first encounter with Grace Turner, an Australian singer songwriter who’s reeling in exuberant praise with her brand of rootsy, folksy indie rock. Her last single Dead Or Alive has been streamed over 500K times since release. It landed the Newcastle based artist on Spotify US’ Viral 50, peaking at #24, and it’s received airtime on triple j airplay, as well as rotations on triple j unearthed, FBi Radio, and more. Easy I Fall immediately brings to mind Angel Olsen with its honeyed vocal lilt and scuzzy riffs, which exude a swathe of 90s grunge grit in their most exuberant moments. Turner explains: “This song is about being tirelessly perused. I used to play it first in my set to shock people into listening to me. I often joke in my live show that it’s about trying to break up with someone but sleeping with them instead. In a deeper sense it’s about power imbalances in relationships, not being listened to and putting someone’s wants and needs above your own.” Grace Turner is also known as a captivating troubadour live, hooking her audience on her every note and leaving them at a standstill, utterly transfixed.
