Workshops and exhibitions with Easy Piece

During May, Runa Johanisdotter and I had exhibitions and workshops with Easy Piece. May 18 we had a mini-exhibition, talks and collaborative workshop at the Textile Museum. We got the opportunity to meet interested people who got to test on plant dying, printing,

embroidery and sewing their own Easy Piece parts.

May 25-26 we were at the Reef Festival at Nääs. Fantastic room where we had an exhibition and workshop. Lovely people who tested on plant dyeing and printing experiments.

This autumn I work with objects for the exhibition ”Future shape reflections” with Sjuhäradsform at Rydal's museum, which startes on 14 December. We will also have Easy Piece workshops there in the spring in connection with the exhibition which runs until March 8, 2020 .

Can one garment save the world?

I have previously informed that I am a pioneering participant of the Open World Collaboration Easy Piece https://www.easypiece.net/participants/

Easy Piece is an Open World Collaboration where art, craft, design, science, philosophy and economics will meet and data and skills can flow freely in all directions and on all levels in an experimental, honest and positive spirit.

The project's aim is to spark awareness and discussions on how we produce and consume clothes; to make the fashion design process more inclusive, transparent, collaborative, organic and ethical; and to create sustainable, new business opportunities. It will inspire and facilitate conscious consumption and create heaps of easy, fun ways to customize, fix, update, share, recreate and reuse the easy pieces so they stay in the loop for a very long time. It aspires to create a happy spectrum of personal, crafted, functional, appealing garments that never go out of fashion, to be valued and worn by anyone regardless of age, gender, creed, size, nationality...

To date I have contributed with 2 knitted garments.

One garment knitted in alpacka/linen bubble knit.

One Garment knitted i linen where I used a technique called punch lace, using a thicker linen yarn from Växbo Lin, in combination with a thinner yarn of organic cotton.

Cut and sewn a Modular hack prototype made of Personal fabric collage for Runa Juhanisdotter. A Collaboration between Leluma Design and Bybaba.

1 garment sewn by an old linen curtain from The Textile museum in Borås and another fabric that was piké jersey in vanilla yellow.

Afterwords I have natural dyed the Easy Piece in a bath of crushed acorns and rusty metal pieces

I have used the cotton string that I had around the parts to embroider and reinforce flowers in the pattern on the linen fabric. I will continue to embroider and highlight patterns on the parts as I find time.

The last two models can front, back and sleeves be changed in infinite.

We have made the parts interlockable, so that sleeves, front and back piece can be snapped apart.

Can one garment save the world?

Runa from Bybaba  http://www.bybaba.com/ will for one year (starting July, 2017) only wear 10 custom made Easy Pieces in combination with the few pieces remaining garments in her dying closet.

An inclusive dialogue and hands on social refashion experiment start together with slow creations, erie Berlin,Leluma Design, chain re:action

Easy Piece Open World Collaboration is a social, sustainable, ethical refashion experiment and inter-disciplinary collaboration. The creative commons open source pattern will be available as of June 30, 2017, when the project is launched at OSCE Days Berlin.

The process will constantly be openly, non-violently, creatively, scientifically and curiously discussed and evaluated by users, designers, producers, craftspeople, activists, scientists, journalists, economists, politicians, artists, academics and more from every field and corner.

The work will be documented, shared, adapted, hacked and fine tuned. … Only to be stopped if suddenly one day or night everybody suddenly hollers ‘Eureka, we have it’! One of the participants is  Petra Holmberg  from Stockholm. Take a look   what her contribution is :

Besides saving and making this world a just and prosperous place,Runa also have a personal reason for launching Easy Piece: It’s just impossible to find what I want in the stores. That super garment respectfully made for me!

I will go to the exhibition and OSCE days event with my knitted easy piece contribution knitted in a Bubbly stick technique in alpaca and linen. It will also be my first time to visit Berlin.
