F.A.S.T.
Four weeks post partum & I’ve manged to only shed 15 of the 35 lbs gained throughout this pregnancy. I’m now on a mission to get myself back on top of my marathon game and will refer to this chapter of my life as F.A.S.T. (Fit and Speedy Tour) with the end result of me being fitter and speedier then my pre-pregnancy self.
I know very well that I need to put things into perspective. I did just give birth 4 weeks ago. But sadly that’s still not going to stop me from obsessing over my new found thickness and lack of fitness.
My ass has literally gotten larger! My shorts either won’t go over my hips or are suctioned so tightly around my ass & upper thighs that I’m somehow managing to make 4 way stretch fabric stretch 20 different ways.
Me along with the additional 20 lbs my body has yet to shed have gone out for a few run/walks this past week and a half. I went out for what was supposed to be a fitness walk at 2.5 weeks postpartum & actually ended up running for an unplanned 10 minutes. After a pregnancy and a 4 month running hiatus I was preparing for the worst and thought I would probably heel over and spew after any attempt at running. But I think that the demands this pregnancy took on my body probably made it a bit more resilient and thankfully my fitness isn’t as damaged as I thought it would be post-pregnancy.
Nevertheless right now I’m just taking it easy-breazy, slow and steady, and figuring out how to deal with running comfortably in my too tight running gear and avoiding eye contact with anyone who might be thinking “Look at that cute pregnant lady running” (true story).
It’s going to be a long, slow, chubby road to pre-pregnancy V and Boston 2015.
