Not quite recently, I bought a palette of Diego Dalla Palma named as SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Sounds very unique. Yes, it is !! The palette contains a collection of eyeshadows, a black eyeliner and a bright red lipstick. It is created by Diego Dalla Palma which is an Italian beauty and skincare brand. Diego Dalla Palma launched its cosmetic range in the late 70s and now a very famous brand all across Europe.
When I researched a bit about the name, it was dawned upon me that this brand was the official cosmetics partner for the movie ‘SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN’ so you would expect that the colours used in the palette, were the actual eyeshadows, eyeliner and lipstick used on set.
The palette is a decorated cardboard box. It contains 3 shimmer eyes shadows and 3 mattes, alongside with a jet black eyeliner and a bright, classic red lipstick.
The box has a mirror as well but I guess I never used it as I am not very comfortable using small mirrors.
Let’s talk about eye shades. The palette is filled with neutrals. It contains both shimmery and matte eyeshadows. Both matte and shimmer shades complement each other and quite similar. We can use the lighter shade for highlight, the middle tone for all over the lid and the darker one for the crease. I really like the tone of these eyeshadows as they are all warmer neutrals and we have a great variety of mattes and shimmers.
The palette contains 3 shimmer colours: Snow, Shield and Mirror Mirror. And 3 Mattes: Fairest, Destiny and Battleground.
The shimmers are the most pigmented and the easiest to work with, as they are creamy, soft, and very blendable. They don’t contain chunky glitter but gives a nice sheen. Here is how I can describe the shimmer ones:
Snow: a white highlight, that isn’t too white, but a bit creamy
Mirror Mirror: A dark brown burgundy shimmer (shield and mirror mirror both my favourites)
The mattes are a bit sheerer but still workable. Here is how I can define them:
Fairest: A dreamy white colour
Destiny: a creamy/yellowy colour
Battleground: a red dark brown
These shades aren’t as pigmented as the shimmery ones as they don’t show up as much. They are still blendable, but you need to work a bit harder with these. I’m a little disappointed as these colours are gorgeous, but they just don’t show up much.
The black eyeliner that comes with the palette, is actually the most favourite one in my eyeliner collection. It is really black and smooth and goes on great. It will last most of the day, which is very impressive. The design of the eyeliner is classic and chic, easy to sharpen and has all my praise.
Besides eyeliner, I love the lipstick! Although as a working woman, I rarely use red lipstick at daytime except for evening parties and events, it is a must-have. This is one classic red lipstick that can pull me away from my gorgeous nudes and I now often use it at daytime as well. It is super pigmented and only needs one coat to last for the day. The lipstick is not matte nor shiny, and won’t dry out lips. The best thing is that after hours of wearing, it just faded a bit, but didn’t bleed or get flaky. It also has a nice vanilla scent. Its primarily matte creamy consistency perfectly covers the lips ensuring full and even application for excellent smudge-free staying power. The lips look well defined and with an extraordinary semi-matte final effect.
The box seems to be huge for my taste, as I like the compact packaging which saves a lot of space. (Spacing issues guys as
a lot of beauty products need to be stocked)
Overall I think I really like the products in this palette and quite satisfied with my purchase as they are very user-friendly. We can create both day and night looks with this palette.
What do you think of Diego Dalla Palma and what do you think of this palette?
