Making butter in a jar is a simple and fun DIY project. With just one ingredient, you can have fresh, creamy butter that's perfect for spreading on toast or using in your favorite recipes. Give it a try!
Ingredients: 1 cup heavy cream. A pinch of salt optional.
Instructions: Pour the heavy cream into a clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. If desired, add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of the butter. Secure the lid tightly on the jar. Shake the jar vigorously for 10-15 minutes. You'll notice the cream thickening and then separating into butter and buttermilk. Once the butter has formed and separated completely, strain out the liquid buttermilk from the solid butter using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Rinse the butter under cold water to remove any remaining buttermilk. This helps to preserve the butter's freshness. Pat the butter dry with a paper towel and transfer it to a clean container for storage. Your homemade butter is ready to use or refrigerate for later.
