Headcanon: Because of the growing civilian sector in the Galra Empire, diet pills have become increasingly popular. They can be sold and stored in large amounts because of their small size, expand in the user’s stomach to create the sensation of fullness and contain a small amount of nutrients to stave off malnutrition (for a short time anyway). Because of these qualities, they have also grown a niche market in the Galra military, particularly with trackers. 

Belost will sooner eat his ration supply than them, but on missions spanning a month or longer they are a godsend. Though because of their nature, Belost tends to lose about ten pounds on longer missions.
