Rethan, tell me about the first time you met Belost? What was it like? ^^ What did you think of him when you first saw him? ^^
"I'd set up shop back on this crappy little planet the Empire was invading- the government sometimes likes to hire me to run guns out to rebels on planets they're trying to conquer. I like to stick around when the troops aren't far behind. I know what soldiers want when they're going to be stuck in a FOB and they all know they're getting combat pay. Lots of money to be made there.
Pretty sure if you know Belost you know he's not the sort of guy you just forget. Not to mention when a guy comes in and buys three pairs of high end boots before an invasion starts... it gets your attention. Thought he was some dumbass trying to resell them at first up until I found out he was a Tracker. Then it all made sense.
Anyway, I liked him well enough. Met a few guys like him before. They might get on your nerves now and then but they're the ones who keep you from wanting to blow your brains out when you're stuck on deployment- so I guess he just reminded me of some old friends.
Glad he's managed to make it this long. The guys that do what he does for as long as he has tend to make it to retirement."

Rain rolled his eyes before going over the planting a small kiss to Belost's cheeks. "Unfortunately for you, I have grown quite a bit and showing chaste acts of affection towards those I consider friends is no longer a source of discomfort." A pause. "Just do not push your luck, mister." Smirking before throwing a playful punch to his friend's shoulder.
He chuckled at the kiss and slunk an arm around his friend to hold him to his side.
"Push my luck? Do you know who you're talking to? This is the Belost we're talking about. I don't need to push my luck because my luck is infinite. It's kind of like my charm in that way if you think about it."
"Huh. You know I just realized all this time I've been the one getting the kisses and you've never gotten one..."
When you're staging a rebellion then suddenly hear the Red Alert 2 OST getting closer
"Wulkir! How do you find me every time? Wherever I am, you find me so quickly!" From Hydra
"Left-over talent from a long time ago. Can take a galra out of the Trackers but you can't take the Tracker out of the galra."
And failing that, the tracking beacon implanted under Hydra's skin helped too.
Somebody's talking about him. He can feel it.
"Yes, Dad! Daddy Wulkir! I call him Daddy because he's always there for me and takes care of me, and he's a real hero!" Hydra took the toy, the cup, and the ball from Belost's hands. He threw the ball and, on the first try, it hit the cup! And without stopping, he did it again! Hydra looked at the toy with a smile, then handed it to Belost. "Thank you so much, I did great!"
"I found something amazing, fried crickets and chicken meat in sweet sauce! It's not far from here, I tried it, and I loved it! And I really want to show it to you, you have to try it! Hurry, hurry! They should be open by now! It would be a shame not to share such a delicious treat!" Hydra pulled Belost along with him.
"Why are you being transferred to a new ship? Didn't you like the old one?"
Wulkir a hero? Well now he'd really heard everything. Still, at least there was somebody out there who was a Wulkir superfan. Or a little bit more from the sound of it. Not that he thought badly of Wulkir. He just knew him. But he wouldn't argue that, especially not with somebody who looked up to him so much.
He took the cup back, a little put out at how easy the... whatever he was... made the game look.
"....fried cri- Well, I do like some sweet chicken. You can have my helping of crickets, though. I think I'm allergic to them...." He wasn't, but it seemed the best way to get out of having to explain why he was going to flip his shit if he found one cricket on his plate.
He hurried along behind Hydra who was practically dragging him along to what he assumed was some sort of food stand. At least he wasn't bored anymore.
"Nah, I like the old one just fine. But people like me get moved around a lot sometimes. So sometimes I get sent to one fleet, then to another, then back to one. I'm guessing you came here on Jester's ship."

The blue guy seemed to know the place so Belost followed along with him and stuck his precious ball in a cup(tm) in a pouch on his war belt.
"Yeah? Ideas for snacks or...?"
He looked over at him and his unique appearance. A little strange but he'd seen weirder before. "Name's Belost, by the way."
"Ooooh! Your name sounds so cool! I like it!" Hydra jumped slightly with joy, he was glad to meet new friend. "Sorry, I still can't remember how to meet people. Usually I say, I'm from The Jesters! and that's it. Dad taught me that. My name is Hydra! I used to have a different name, but I forgot it. And Dad didn't like it; it was my number. So he gave me a new name. I love this name. Yes, I have a lot of ideas! I'm waiting for some tests, so I'm bored, I've explored all the places where I can find something tasty to eat. And I want to show you my favorite so far!" Hydra walked quickly, as if he was in a hurry to get somewhere, but then he stopped to look at his new friend. He was still holding his hand. Hydra looked at Belost, carefully studying him from head to toe. This Galra looked interesting and Hydra wanted to play with him, but food came first. He was especially interested in the ball toy.
Belost chuckled. "Dad, huh?" He walked along with him, liking the energy, even though just watching Hydra hop around like that made him feel tired.
"Yeah? What's your favorite?" he asked, catching Hydra staring at the little toy. He pulled it back out of his pouch and held it out for him, offering it to the energetic guy. "You sound like me when I get stationed on a new ship. Not many people appreciate that kind of knowledge until they get in the mood for something."
I just fixed another monitor of mine with my box of capacitors and soldering iron >:D I'm an unstoppable fixing machine!
Been working on fixing my sleep schedule recently. I forgot how talkative cats are early in the morning. Mr Vulcan has been having a real one-sided conversation over here between bouts of hole punching plastic wrap with his teeth.
Hydra jumped down from the ceiling.
He looked at Belost, smiled and gently took him by the elbow.
"Oh yeah, buddy! I've probably tried everything I could find around here! Hurry, let's go! I have so many ideas!"

Belost might not be all about the creepy crawlies but he'd absolutely make friends with talking bugs
"Pfffft....." Belost sighed and tossed a ball on a string towards a cup in his hand. Missed. He'd kill for a good boxing match right about now. Or... just about anything really.
It had been a slow week. And it wasn't going to pick up any time soon.
"Purple Galra" Belost heard Hydra's voice. "Hi big friend! I can keep you company if you want! I'm good at eating, sleeping, and fighting! If you like any of that, we can do it together!" The chimera hung upside down, clinging to the ceiling with his claws.
Belost heard the voice and glanced to one side. Then the other. Then quirked an eyebrow and glanced up, finding the blue guy up on the ceiling above him.
Maybe that would give others pause, but Belost had met plenty of interesting species in his time and hanging from the ceiling wasn't exactly the wildest thing he'd seen.
"Huh... Eating, sleeping, and fighting." He glanced between the new arrival and then to the ball and a cup. "Fuck it. You know of any snack machines around here?"
"What?! No way. There's nobody in here half as fun. Everyone is boring." That wasn't entirely the case, but those in the palace did tend to take him a bit too seriously when he wasn't on the job, or only be gently indulgent instead of actively fun with him. The mention of scooting models on maps made him groan, flopping forward so his chest rested against Belost's head, his arms hanging on either side of his face.
"Ugh, basically. It's all scooting until we can scoot our actual ships in range. I can't wait 'til we get where we're going, though—big beautiful rainforest. We'll be able to get on the ground and climb around. Hopefully without too many casualties!" The peppy way he talked about it hid how carefully he was taking it all—not on purpose, he just didn't care to actually discuss in detail what he'd already been thinking about for hours of meetings. "And what have you been up to, my fine friend? Missed me too horribly in my absence?"
"Boring- boring- boring-" he parroted in an unusual voice, mirroring Spades' nonsensical energy as he carried him around and his kei friend's arms entered his peripheral vision. "It'll all be worth it once you all get to climb around places. Maybe swing around from a vine or two. Just maybe don't go swimming in the rivers until you check them for alligators or whatever predators that place might have."
He looked up at Spades to actually see his face as he spoke, making sure he was going relatively straight and had some unimpeded room to move, "Oh you know. The usual deal of messing around, getting bored, stocking up on candy and shiny things for my next visit here. And you know I missed my bud Spades. You know how rare it is to find somebody who actually likes fun. Actual fun. You know the kind."
The sound of paw pads against the ground, pap-pap-pap-pap-pap, a quick run, and a pause, is the only warning Belost receives. Then a weight crashes onto his back, arms around his shoulders, as Spades, the surely most dignified general of the Kei Empire, leaps onto him with a joyful yell. "BELOST! Hii, hello, hiiiiii!"
Belost's ears twitched at the sound of a familiar gait then rocked forward and back slowly after suddenly gaining a new passenger. He chuckled and glanced back, reaching back and hooking around Spades' legs to piggyback him.
"Well well well, look who it is. Where've you been, huh? I've been on the planet for almost two hours now. Was starting to think you'd gotten a new best friend."
He carried Spades along with him as he walked down the hall. "What've you been up to? Official general stuff? Scooting tanks and airplane models around on maps?"
