Although it wasn’t UNCOMMON for him to travel, he found himself feeling rather APPREHENSIVE with the journey at hand. Something was PULLING him toward this place, this case, in particular, though he didn’t know what. The feeling was evident; the closer he came to Derry, the more his hands shook, and he became increasingly ANXIOUS, unsettled. There was even a period of time where he had to pull over and off the road, for he was experiencing a shortness of breath and couldn’t explain WHY.
He had assumed, at the time of arrival, that it was ALMOST beneficial that such symptoms had ceased. However, nothing was ever that EASY, and if anything, Arthur knew this to be true. Parking in a rather EMPTY parking lot, he let out a heavy sigh, pressing his head against the wheel to recollect himself. FILES that lead to dead ends and unnecessary convictions were left spewed in the passenger seat; his thoughts circled around old KIDNAPPINGS and KILLINGS until he simply became FED-UP with himself. He needed to process it all and formulate a PLAN, something he can effectively work on while he was here. Yet, after another moment of coming up with nothing but blanks, he would exit the vehicle in a rush and opt to walk instead, thinking the exercise could CLEAR his head, as well as get him familiar with the area.
It wasn’t long, however, until the idea of walking was soon REGRETTED. Even while ARMED and alert, he couldn’t escape the insecure feeling of FALSE safety. It seemed, no matter the circumstance, he would remain DISTRAUGHT here in this city. And that proved enough of a DISTRACTION to make him forget the direction in which he was going. UNFAMILIAR with the street names, he quickly became LOST, and in his distress did he struggle to find his way back toward his car.
