GOA : There is more to Goa than its golden sands and enticing beaches – parties and hippies. Food and drinks are taken very seriously and boy, you’d be amazed if we tell you that Goan cuisine has more to offer than the quintessential Goan curry. With this very agenda in mind, we,the 2 munchies decided to let loose the foodie in us, and embark on a gastronomic adventure in this tropical paradise.
CAFE CHOCOLATTI
A much talked about cafes in Candolim, and as we were staying nearby so decided to give it a try. The Sign Board stands long & is placed on a height..If you’re walking on the footpath next to it, you might feel this is some public garden..The Garden wall might get you confused, but wait! The truth might surprise you! The Ambience is classy! A huge lawn & a beautifully developed cafe lies right inside the main gate!
-:FOOD:- American Breaksfast (4.5/5): One of the finest Omelettes I’ve eaten lately..Such a smooth omelette with no burnt marks on it..Where can you find such cooking finesse? The Omelette was a delight to eat with less oil too! A MUST-TRY! The toast served with Omelettes looked more bit fancy but it was quite nicely toasted with the help of some butter! Helped me finish out on the Omelette!
The bacon, sausages, fried tomato and mushroom with juice and tea complimented the whole breakfast and left us satiated.
We had also ordered Goan Chirzo Panini sandwich which was a grilled and served with your choice of bread.
The service was brilliant..Right from the start till the end..The boys put in some real quality service & they’re quick on their feet too!
Only 1 thing got us disappointed was NO ALCOHOL being served here :(. Although nearby there are 100’s of other options where you can quench your beer thirst.
Other Goan Food try-outs
Goa’s food scene runs the gamut right from its humblest, sand-at-your-feet beach shacks to its higher-end, sand-at-your-feet fine dining options, with a whole pile of King’s beers and caloric goodness in between of course.
Although fish curries, fruit rice and other staple dishes shouldn’t be missed, there are many more distinct tastes and flavours to experience in the culinary treasure trove that is Goa. We tried food shacks both in Candolim market areas as well as the beach side. Also, we were lucky enough to be able to fetch some fresh burgers and hot dogs while in Arpora night market. The burgers were luscious.
We tasted Goan fish curry, which is a classic of the cuisine in many places, and have to say we were never disappointed. Large pieces of fresh, tender fish in a fiery bath, washed down with flavoured Hukkas , Beer and followed by a showy orange and pink sunset. Nothing better.
Someone rightly said “Goa is more than just a destination, it’s a state of mind; and when the place offers cuisines from around the globe, then that’s like the cherry on the cake. So why wait? Pack your bags (and your appetite) and plan your trip here. 😀
