Orphaned Noni had a hard time learning to be independent. In our work with the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, one of the things we practiced was teaching young orangutans to allow their caregivers to leave and to also go explore the forest on their own. Learn how animal training can facilitate the efforts of conservation projects and how zoos are helping. It can improve animal welfare and facilitate release success. I will be giving a presentation on Training to Improve Welfare of Orangutans in Borneo. Join us for the Animal Training Working Group session at the annual European Association of Zoos and Aquariums conference. The ATWG session is Wednesday September 18th, 2019. 18:30-20:00 in the Ghana Room.
