I’ve been selling on eBay for a long time, about 15 years. I generally use it to get rid of my clothes which i don’t wear anymore to make space for new ones. I’ve always had the odd buyer who claims, “i didn’t receive it” or “its not the same colour as the photograph”. Dealing with people is extremely frustrating especially because a lot of things i sell for 99p, then people moan if they aren’t in new condition, even though most of my items are used. Anyway, in the past month i’ve had buyers who have tried to commit fraud against me. One purchased a jacket from me and then claimed they had not received it, even though it was sent tracked and they signed for the item (i mean how stupid can you be). Of course eBay protected me on this occasion as the buyer was clearly trying it on. The other problem which i have had recently was with an item i sold via eBay’s GSP. Two months after the delivery of the item, the buyer raised a claim with PayPal claiming that they did not authorise the transaction. Bear in mind that the item was purchased through eBay, and sent via their tracked service. As the transaction was so long ago, they can’t try and claim via eBay, and eBay would close the case immediately because the tracking states the item was delivered. By Paypal allowing buyers to complain through them, they are simply making it easier for people to commit fraud (despite me providing tracking, and eBay and Paypal being the same company, they still are ‘reviewing’ the information). This woman clearly bought the item from me, paid for it, has received it, and now are claiming that they did not make the purchase. This was a purchase made over 2 months ago as well. I know this is only two issues, but i don’t sell that much on there and having things like this happen isn't very nice. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s really not worth the hassle. I’ve handed over most of the items i was selling to a trading assistant, the other items will go to the charity shop. Sorry eBay, its over.
