Free Electric Bikes are a Thing. Maybe. I just wrote an article on GearLab arguing that if you factor in the costs of a car and you replace your car miles with an electric bike, buying is essentially free. Well sorta. There are a lot of reasons, but mainly it just makes it a lot more fun to get around. And it is a great for of "accidental exercise."
