Bright Light Projects Sierra Leone (BLPSL) “Mend the Gap school program for vulnerable Ebola orphans” Phase 2 Implementation in Bombali District on Saturday February 10, 2018 was a huge success. The entire BLPSL from Freetown went down to Makeni to coordinate the distribution of school items to selected beneficiaries based on field assessments conducted last December in the neighboring villages in Bombali District. Thanks to our partners especially Sierra Leone Association of Ebola Survivors (SLAES) in Makeni who gave us their office space for this ceremony. We thank the representatives from the Ministry of Social Welfare,Ministry of Education for being part of this event. Five of the girls (Ebola orphans) our team recognized during our field assessments who were all engaged in commercial sex as a means of survival are all enrolled back to school with so much enthusiasm into the future. As part of Monitoring and Evaluation on @brightlight_projects ‘Mend the Gap School program for vulnerable Ebola orphans’ in Sierra Leone, BLPSL team visited some of our beneficiaries in the Western Rural District- Waterloo area. This visit is at the KOMRA TRAINING CENTER where some of our beneficiaries are undertaking vocational skills training to provide them with the necessary skills to face their future with confidence. The objective of these field visits is to address any challenges on a timely manner to ensure success of the program. Thanks to Max Kamara and Bakary Kaba. It’s been a hectic day here in waterloo western Rural in Sierra Leone Sitting at the office of the principal of Peninsular secondary school with Aminata Sesay who lost 22 of her family members and is now ready to go back to school with Bright Light Help. Today is International Day of the Girl Child. Please as you swim in the comfort of your homes, do not forget so may little girls are hopeless and helpless. Look at beautiful Marvis Toba, an Ebola Orphan now staying at Safe Home Rolal 2 Village orphanage home in Port Loko District in Sierra Leone. Marvis and plenty of her mates at Safe Home lost both parents to the deadly Ebola virus back in 2014. As we celebrate this day, let it be a renewal of our commitment to help little girls like Marvis see the light. Marvis wants to go back to school, she need food to eat, she needs school supplies, she needs somewhere to call home.
