Are you or are you NOT a Rapper?
I was holding off on writing about this, in hopes that I would have some material from both parties to compare. BUT CLEARLYYYYY some artist prefer tweeting their frustrations rather than rap about it.
I must admit, I'm a little disappointed but at the same time I'm not surprised. Nicki came into the game pretty much unopposed by any other female entertainer 2007. She introduced herself as a rapper but quickly transitioned into different genres.
Now my biggest issue with Nicki is her failure to step-up and compete, but isn’t to busy to tweet or post pics from her latest video shoot. If you (Nicki) had no intention of responding to Remy you shouldn't have fed into the allegations on the track by tweeting about it. This the same place where Meek went wrong. Either youre gonna respond in a song or not respond at all, no one cares about your punchline tweets and if Beyonce loves you. So get her yourself and do it for the culture of Hip-hop.
What we as fans want to see is healthy competition. Not this pompous attitude as if you've sold too many records to still do what we knew you for, rapping. If you're the queen of rap let's hear why. It's easy to talk about record sales when you always drop your album at the end of the year. Not to mention, your albums are never a 100% rap it's always a lil pop thrown in there. So your record sales are a lil inflated because it crosses over several markets of listeners.
Remy is a rapper from the Bronx. She's never shifted from that and when she released 'Shether' you can tell she was biting her tongue for a while to come with a 7-min diss track.
DJ’s and celebrities alike have voiced their opinion over the track. Social media has probably been the biggest factor in keeping this ‘beef’ brewing, because Nicki hasn’t dared to fan the flames with a response. At this point hip-hop fans are side-eyeing the woman that hailed herself as the ‘Queen of Rap’. Maybe when Nicki drops a new project she’ll respond. I mean, a response should have been automatic with how disrespectful Remy was on ‘SHEther’.
